Wii - Mario Kart Wii - Mario Kart Wii The brothers Mario clash on the racetrack. As their karts grind together, the combined mach speed threatens to tear the lip warmers from their very faces. The scene seethes with venom - never has Nintendo dredged up such ferocious rivalry. As an opening FMV? It’s a killer. As an indicator of the day at the races to follow? They’re being a little liberal with the truth.Entering our first race - Luigi’s Circuit in Mario’s ...

Wii - Pinball Hall of Fame - The Williams Collection - Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection Pinball is like a dinosaur to most of today’s gamers, who’ve become used to parent-horrifyingly realistic graphics, epic storylines, and massively multiplayer online worlds. However, those few who still dig on this old-school action would have to look long and hard to find a better deal than this lovingly handled compilation. We’ll get the list out of the way first: You’ve got Black Knight, Pinbot, Gorgar, Space ...

Wii - Classic British Motor Racing - Classic British Motor Racing There are bad games, there are "so bad, it's kinda good" games, and then there are "Dear God, how did this shit even happen? Can this be legal?" games. The Wii version of Classic British Motor Racing - which appears to be a port of a budget PlayStation 2 game released in the UK in 2007 - lands squarely in that last category.   ...

We have to hand it to the developers of Indianapolis 500 Legends: they've got balls. Does Electronic Arts, the largest game publisher in the world, have the nerve to make a Madden football game with only the Dallas Cowboys? Of course not. Does Nintendo, a company whose corporate philosophy is apparently, "Screw you. We'll do what we want." have the stones to craft a new Tetris that uses only one shape of block? No they do not. Yet, the scrappy upstarts in charge of this historically-inspired racing game thought it would be perfectly fine to make a racing game that contained only a single track - and an oval one, at that. ...

Wii - Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 The Pro Evolution series has always done a fine job of replicating what’s happening in real professional football, and never more so than in its first run out on Wii. For the key to success in the game is playing with a quick pass-and-move style, keeping the ball on the deck, not holding on to it for too long and exploiting space. The control scheme, designed especially for Wii, is absolutely perfect for this. Result! ...

Wii - Worms: A Space Oddity - Worms: A Space Oddity This is how you fire a banana shot in Worms: A Space Oddity. First, you awkwardly position your worm into place using the D-pad. Then, you press the minus button (yes, the minus button) to access your weapons menu. But - oh no! - Team 17, wacky as they are, have dressed everything up in a rather confusing space-related theme, so you spend the next 45 seconds gingerly wobbling from one crudely drawn menu ‘picture’ to another. ...

Wii - Sega Superstars Tennis - Sega Superstars Tennis The best part of this game is Superstars mode, which is a selection of minigames, challenges and tournaments based around old-school Sega hits such as Space Channel 5, Golden Axe, Virtua Cop, Monkey Ball, Out Run, After Burner and Alex Kidd. You’ll either play on courts designed to look like environments from the games or you’ll unlock one of the characters in a head-to-head contest. Minigames include knocking down waves of zombies ...

Wii - George of the Jungle and the Search for the Secret - George of the Jungle Much like George of the Jungle the movie, we suspect this would suddenly become massively entertaining if experienced under the influence of various intoxicants. As a platformer it’s not awful, but that’s probably the best that can be said about it. Still, despite its licensed nature and similarity to so many other genero-games, the Wii controls are actually decent enough. Often intuitive, they make pretty decent and unintrusive use ...

Wii - The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return - The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return It’s not often you get a bargain, but as anybody who’s familiar with the HotD series will know, Return contains two games for the price of one. We know what you’re thinking here: “Of course it’s two games, the title says so!” But before you start demanding resignations, just bear with us for a second. You see, although House of the Dead 2 and 3 share a few things in common - namely zombies, the Zapper, and a ...

Wii - Major League Baseball 2K8 - MLB 2K8 While The Bigs and Power Pros have done their part to cure the baseball jones of Wii owners, until now 2K Sports' acclaimed sim franchise had been MIA from Nintendo's powerhouse console. To be frank, we were more than a little concerned with what awaited us in MLB 2K8. However, despite some rough edges, the result is a surprisingly enjoyable trip to the ballpark. MLB 2K8 had us wondering for months - will we be hurling pitches and swinging for ...
