Wii Review
Dec 10, 2007 Shooter enthusiasts, look away. Budget gamers, avert your eyes. Gundam fans... haven't you been hurt enough already? This laughable attempt at laser-guided thrills ain't what you're looking for. Years from now, its epic awfulness may be the stuff of legend and we'll be able to share in a hearty chuckle at Counter Force's expense. Its presentation is a fascinating blend of generic and ugly. The soundtrack features a mercilessly wailing guitar of God-like electro-cheese, seemingly ...

Dec 6, 2007 Poor Star Trek. Despite having one of the most rabid fan followings in all of science fiction, it hasn't spawned a solid TV series, movie or video game in years. Unfortunately, that includes Star Trek: Conquest, a shallow blend of action and strategy that feels more like an enthusiastic homebrew project than an officially licensed game. As one of six playable races, you construct fleets and conquer planets, just like in the board game Risk, fighting their defenders in real-time or ...

Wii Review
Dec 6, 2007 Crossbow Training is a very simple lightgun game wrapped in the trappings of Zelda; it recycles its levels and enemies, ripping its graphics, settings and music from Twilight Princess. That particular rendition of Hyrule is one with which almost every Wii owner is familiar with so its with warmth in your heart youll re-enter Links world, this time blasting your way through the towns and villages with a semi-automatic ...

Wii Review
Dec 06, 2007 You wouldn't know it from the nearly identical packaging or from the website that it shares with the PS2 and DS versions, but the Wii version of Godzilla: Unleashed is a notably different game. Sure, you're still playing the part of a giant monster stamping around various cities and mashing other monsters in the face with buildings, but there are several things here you won't find in the other versions. This results in a better game, although it's still rife with problems. The ...

Dec 4, 2007 Much like real-world fishing, Fishing Master for the Wii requires some time and plenty of patience before it pays off. In the beginning it is an over simplified, cartoony excuse to fling your WiiMote in the air and perform silly wrist actions with the Nunchuck. During that first hour you can pretty much figure out exactly how to bring in every catch and recognize when the fish will definitely get ...

Wii Review
Despite dubious origins, Cruis'n is more or less the same loose racer that rocked arcades and the Nintendo 64 in the mid-90s. Except that it's now 2007, and nobody apparently bothered to tell the folks at Midway and Just Games Interactive. To say Cruis'n looks like a higher-resolution N64 game at times is neither hyperbole nor as ironically entertaining as you might expect - and that says nothing for the wonky controls, inconsistent gameplay, and generally horrifying presentation. As expected, ...

Nov 30, 2007 Crazy golf isnt the most hilarious thing at the best of times - its a glorified crèche for holidaymakers children. But Oxygen would claim theyre in on the joke. They know that crazy golf is held in little regard, which is why they made it all so dreadfully tacky. Not rubbish, mind - its ironic. Those jaggy graphics that look sharp enough to saw plywood? Thats tongue in cheek, that is. ...

Wii Review
Nov 28, 2007 Bringing Soulcalibur's weapon-based brand of fighting to the Wii seems like an obvious choice; the series is all about swinging and slashing with a variety of death-dealing devices, and the Wii's motion-sensing tech practically puts those weapons in your hands - sort of. The thing is, Namco Bandai has traded the one-on-one fighting game focus of a traditional Soulcalibur game for a shallow hack-'n'-slash, action/adventure offering. The result is a mildly entertaining, but ...

Nov 26, 2007 Which came first? Ninjabread Man or this or Anubis II, as all of them are practically identical - one game with three skins. Elviz (yes) swings his guitar like the Ninjabread chap swings his sword, and shoots at things using the same pointer-controlled cursor. From level structure to menus, the only real difference is in the graphics. For a game with a musical theme, the music is very poor. Elviz jumps on drums and runs along keyboards, which could have made a nice sound but ...

Wii Review
Nov 26, 2007 The third installment of Data Design's cheapo reskinnable platform game has an Egyptian theme and sounds like some kind of ointment for piles. Strangely, there was no Anubis 1. Okay... It does look a little bit nicer than Ninjabread Man and Rock 'N' Roll Adventures but that's due to the shiny gold colours rather than any superior design, and it suffers from the same shoddy controls as its partners in crime. All three are small enough to keep running for a while without having ...
