Paul W.S. Anderson's next Resident Evil film will not be releasing in September as previously stated, but a little earlier on August 27th. Apparently Anderson who is both the writer and director has been researching nearly every 3D film to hit the big screen to be ready for his first foray into the 3rd dimension of cinema. Our guess is that he needs to find some ways to incorporate 3D scenes without forcing them. Since Afterlife is supposed to be a reboot, we'll just pretend Extinction never happen and pray this film stays at least a mile from the source material.

Paul W.S. Anderson tells Shock Till You Drop that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be his 4th RE film, but not a sequel. Instead the series will be revamped and start as a whole new trilogy. Afterlife will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will see the return of old characters and new ones. The film will also be joining that whole 3D fad that decided to rear its head up from the 70's.

"I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films, "he said. "And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."

Our guess is that Paul will take the Fast And Furious approach; by having a film that ignores previous events and rewrites the series history. This is good news for die hard Resident Evil fans. Maybe, just maybe we can have a RE film that doesn't stray so far from the source material. We're looking at you Extinction.
RE:DC will be different with a possible online multiplayer. Players can play with online or with a friend at home. There's no official word that it is going to have online multiplayer but, there will be some kind of online feature. Other than the online the game seems to be more promising. Unlike the the previous game, you can now carry health items and the d-pad will work to switch among your weapons like the same feature on RE 5. The game will follow up in to the RE 2 story along with a new scenario with Leon in South American. This does seem like one hell of a game. Fans no doubt will enjoy this new installment into the series. The game will be released exclusively for the Wii in winter 2009

We all know that the Nintendo Wii is privy to a bunch of peripherals that are actually nothing more than pieces of plastic which are supposed to augment the playing experience, but most of them (golf and tennis attachments) actually end up posing as a bigger risk when it comes to breaking things around in your home as you make that swing. Still, the official Resident Evil (The Umbrella Chronicles) Shot Blaster is now out...

This week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending December 3rd, highlight both to-be-released and already released games in a unique demand-specific chart.

This week's top five all-platform requests show little movement once again, after last week saw the list barely ruffled. Assassin's Creed still takes the top spot for a third week with Mass Effect in second for its second week in a row.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which spent the last two weeks at number four, slips a bit to the fourth spot to make room for Kane and Lynch: Dead Men to move up one spot into the fourth spot, but that's the only movement -- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune stays at number five, where it entered last week.

Hardware sale estimates:
¿ DS: ~80,000

While the standard edition will be your typical Wii game, the Deluxe edition will come packaged with a Wii Zapper, a 28-page full-color booklet entitled "Wesker's Extra Report", and some stickers.

According to GamerMetrics analyst Nick Williams, the resulting findings put Super Mario Galaxy at the top of the most anticipated games list. Were expecting big things from Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, due to be released for Wii on 5 October, and from what weve seen so far were not going to be disappointed.

We've certainly sung its praises a few times, but perhaps the most immersive part of the gameplay has only just now been experienced - playing the game with the Wii Zapper.

Using only the remote and Nunchuk was fine, but the locked-in feeling and perfect hand placement of the zapper make spraying hot lead at zombie heads all the more enticing. One hand is placed ...
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, the lightgun-style spin-off headed for Wii, will allow two players to splatter zombie face in co-op mode.

The news brings with it one delightful thought: dual wielding. With a Remote in each hand, you'll feel like the daddy.

Confirmation on co-op has come via a preview in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, which includes screenshots containing two crosshairs on the same ...
We're all hoping that Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles will be so much more than just another on-rails shooter, and the latest details in issue 17 of Official Nintendo Magazine UK give us plenty of reasons to believe it's going to be fantastic.

ONM points out that most of the game played in co-op with another CPU-controlled character, suggesting a two-player option in the final game.

Capcom, according to ONM, neither confirms nor denies the possibility of a two-player mode, but it would ...
Gamers and critics alike let out a gasp of horrific glee when Resident Evil 4 kicked in the GameCube's door back in 2005. And it proved to the world that the Nintendo's system wasn't just for kiddies and fanboys. So our hopes are high that the upcoming Wii port will have the same "maturing" effect on the system, as well as silence ...

"Pity the Resident Evil fanatic. Not only has the poor guy had to buy two chainsaw controllers and brave two Resident Evil movies (and now suffers cold sweats anticipating the third), but according to Famitsu, he'll now have to buy a third version of Resident Evil 4, this time for Wii.

An intrepid NeoGAF member translated the info from the most recent issue of the Japanese magazine. The new version (presumably the unannounced game that Capcom hinted at last month) uses the Wiimote for aiming, naturally, but also uses it for stabbing zombies, as God intended. There's no word yet on whether or not it will reach North America, but a listing for the game briefly appeared on Gamestop's site, and the thing's already been localized once, so it would seem like a lock..."

Capcom is holding a Gamers Day event on April 12 to showcase at least part of its 2007 lineup and several Wii projects are expected to be on-hand, including the tentatively named Treasure Island Z. In addition, some reports indicate that the studio may choose this venue to unveil the anticipated Wii survival-horror sequel, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

Capcom's senior director of strategic planning and research, Christian Svensson, hasn't confirmed whether Umbrella Chronicles will be on-hand at the event. But he did reveal that the title will support both 480 progressive-scan and 16:9 widescreen modes whenever it finally ships for Nintendo's new console. Svensson was unsure if the game would run in Dolby Pro Logic II, though.
