These are the genre’s defining relics. Some are responsible for the very creation of the zombie mythos, others adapted and advanced it, while the rest simply encapsulate it so exquisitely that they must be experienced. This may not be everyone’s definitive list of zombie lore ...

Paul W.S. Anderson's next Resident Evil film will not be releasing in September as previously stated, but a little earlier on August 27th. Apparently Anderson who is both the writer and director has been researching nearly every 3D film to hit the big screen to be ready for his first foray into the 3rd dimension of cinema. Our guess is that he needs to find some ways to incorporate 3D scenes without forcing them. Since Afterlife is supposed to be a reboot, we'll just pretend Extinction never happen and pray this film stays at least a mile from the source material.
However, Capcom chose to develop both games on-rails instead of as third-person shooters.

Paul W.S. Anderson tells Shock Till You Drop that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be his 4th RE film, but not a sequel. Instead the series will be revamped and start as a whole new trilogy. Afterlife will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will see the return of old characters and new ones. The film will also be joining that whole 3D fad that decided to rear its head up from the 70's.

"I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films, "he said. "And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."

Our guess is that Paul will take the Fast And Furious approach; by having a film that ignores previous events and rewrites the series history. This is good news for die hard Resident Evil fans. Maybe, just maybe we can have a RE film that doesn't stray so far from the source material. We're looking at you Extinction.

We all know that the Nintendo Wii is privy to a bunch of peripherals that are actually nothing more than pieces of plastic which are supposed to augment the playing experience, but most of them (golf and tennis attachments) actually end up posing as a bigger risk when it comes to breaking things around in your home as you make that swing. Still, the official Resident Evil (The Umbrella Chronicles) Shot Blaster is now out...
Why so? We doubt that they're made for the love of it, so it must be because they can actually make a few bucks at the box-office. Can it really be true and, if so, how much money do video game movies actually make?

We picked 10 videogame movies and found out how ...

What would be the best thing to wear to a zombie apocalypse? Would we go for the bullet-proof vest (but zombies don't have guns!)? Or the side-split evening gown (too much leg for the undead!)? ...

IGN writes: "Next month, Capcom resumes scaring gamers with Resident Evil 5, the latest entry in the survival-horror series that helped define a genre. The Resident Evil series turns 13 this year, too, making it a perfect time to ring in a new installment of this storied franchise. Chances are, if you've been gaming for the last decade, you have at least dropped one or two (or 500) zombies infected with Umbrella's sinister T-Virus."
Say what you will about the game, but frantically leaping between four aerial cable cars and shimmying around their edges to spray paint a single giant message - all while dodging machinegun fire and tossing riot cops - felt overwhelmingly badass the first time we did it. ...
RE4 was originally meant to be exclusive to the Gamecube, but concerns over sales led Capcom to release the title on PS2, and later on PC, with additional content.

...have been shipped worldwide. Capcom seems pretty happy about this and they should be. People will probably buy them since Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition only costs thirty bucks and it's arguably the best Wii-make out there. Good for Capcom, but what demographic is buying Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition? Is it really the new-to-gaming Wii Sports crowd or is it their loyal fans who already own another version of RE4?

"Filipino site GameOPS found that pirates are up to their old tricks again, copying GameCube games onto DVD discs and packaging them as Wii releases. Titles like Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition are advertised with new covers that've been rebranded with Wii logos and boxart elements. Unlike official GameCube-to-Wii ports, these don't even feature tacked-on waggle controls!"
Resident Evil 4 may not be the only existing title in the survival horror series to experience Wii remote action.

Masachika Kawata, producer of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, has said he's interested in remaking previous Resident Evil games for Nintendo's new console in an interview with Jeux France (via translation on Aussie-Nintendo).

GameCube versions of the survival horror games are of course playable on Wii, but remakes would introduce a whole new way to interact with the ...

30 U.S. dollars = 22.2882615 Euros

45 Euros = 60.57 U.S. dollars

Is there anything left to say about Resident Evil 4? It came out more than two years ago, astonished GameCube owners for about a month and then went into hibernation until the PS2 port launched later in 2005 with bonus goodies galore. Now, in friggin' 2007, Wii gets the PS2 version plus some wiggle-waggle controls - and that's it. No enhanced graphics, no "new to Wii" modes, just the same damn game you've probably beaten two or three times by now. And you know what? It's still a satisfying, ...
That's right boys and girls, limbs will no longer fall, blood won't be splattering here and there as you were used to and so on. Add this to the simplified control scheme and what do you get? A great survival-horror video game screwed up by the Wii.
The pioneer - Resident Evil | 1996 | PS1
Responsible for coining the term survival horror, Resident Evil was more than a third person action/adventure with a few monsters in - it marked out the beginning of a genre that actively went out of its way to unsettle and isolate players. For a start, you never had enough ammo, so sooner or later you were going to have to run. But run where? The claustrophobic confines of the mansion was as much your enemy as the monsters, with intentionally awkward ...

Japanese game magazine Famitsu were the first to review Resident Evil 4 on the Wii. Their verdict?

According to the magazine, which tasked four of their writers with reviewing the game, the content is almost identical to the GameCube version, but the Wiimote controls make the game feel fresh and different. One reviewer commented that the Wiimote controls made the player feel closer to the action, and increased the tension when hunting down the zombies.

Of the four reviewers, two of them gave the game a 10/10, and the other two gave it a 9/10. And while Famitsu are not exactly the toughest critics in the video game journalism industry, these scores appear to indicate that we have a lot to look forward to come release day on June 19th.

While most of us can still only dream of a chance to play the Wii version of Resident Evil 4, the editors of Famitsu DS+Wii were apparently spending some quality time with the real thing long ago. The Nintendo-oriented monthly sister publication of Weekly Famitsu offered opinions on the game in its July issue, which just hit Japanese news stands today.

Judging by the scores, the Wii could have a critical hit. Two editors awarded the game a perfect 10 out of 10. The other two were still impressed enough to award a score of 9.
RE4 Wii: 10 / 10 / 9 / 9 - (38/40)
Well here's a game that needs no introduction. After being nominated for every possible award ever (we think it might have even walked away with a Golden Globe or something), Resident Evil 4 is appearing on one final platform: the Wii. Yes, the system is backwards compatible with the GameCube, which does play a fantastic version of RE4, but for those who have yet to experience this magnificent piece of technology, now's the time.

IGN have taken another look at the official website for the game and noticed a control chart showcasing how the game has been adapted for the Wiimote. They've translated the chart from Japanese and it can be viewed below.

Some of the uses they talk about include cutting a rope by swinging the Wiimote while another has you swinging the Wiimote left in order to avoid an incoming zombie attack.
Gamers and critics alike let out a gasp of horrific glee when Resident Evil 4 kicked in the GameCube's door back in 2005. The fast-paced, over the shoulder splatterfest revitalized a franchise, considered by many to be in the same state of living decomposition as its undead antagonists. And it proved to the world that the Nintendo's system wasn't just for kiddies and fanboys. So our hopes are high that the upcoming Wii port will have the same "maturing" effect on the system, as well as silence ...

From the article:

"Pity the Resident Evil fanatic. Not only has the poor guy had to buy two chainsaw controllers and brave two Resident Evil movies (and now suffers cold sweats anticipating the third), but according to Famitsu, he'll now have to buy a third version of Resident Evil 4, this time for Wii.

An intrepid NeoGAF member translated the info from the most recent issue of the Japanese magazine. The new version (presumably the unannounced game that Capcom hinted at last month) uses the Wiimote for aiming, naturally, but also uses it for stabbing zombies, as God intended. There's no word yet on whether or not it will reach North America, but a listing for the game briefly appeared on Gamestop's site, and the thing's already been localized once, so it would seem like a lock..."
