CoffeewithGames breaks down the play-time data for three FPSes on the Wii. CwG says in one section, Player Increase Since Last Story: The Conduit has increased by 7,431 players reporting data, since the data from July 5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex now has 20,853 more players reporting play-time data. Red Steel 2 has 9,108 more players reporting their play-time data, than it did on July 5. CwG also says in one section, Also, this is the first time since I have compared these games directly, that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has more players reporting play-time data, than The Conduit does.

Released in March of this year, Red Steel 2 has sold 270,000 copies. It definitely reviewed well and earned a score of 80 on Metacritic, so what happened?

The Wii-only and well-reviewed samurai Western Red Steel 2 sold about 50,000 copies in the U.S. in March, its first month of release, according to financial analyst Michael Pachter. [UPDATE: Ubisoft comments.] That follows a halving by publisher Ubisoft of its sales projections for the game. The previous Red Steel, a first-person shooter/sword-fighting game like its sequel, has sold more than a million copies. The difference between the two Red Steels is not just critical reaction - the first was panned - but a few years. Red Steel, the first Wii game ever revealed, via the cover of Game Informer magazine, was a 2006 Wii launch title.
