Nintendo seems to be getting very forgetful in its old age. For after neglecting to mention to anyone about the existence of its classic version of the Wii controller, this shooter-shaped prototype turned up on the Big N's stand unannounced, unheralded and un-promoted too. Locked in a case and seemingly fashioned from both the Wii-mote and the nunchaku controller, the device appears to have already been dubbed The Zapper after the old NES lightgun. And while we weren't able to get our hands on ...

As Nintendo's stand was still being built around us, with cranes and fork lift trucks all about, we were ushered into a back walled room secured with an anticipation raising jumbo-jet style locking mechanism for one of the world's first goes on Wii. First things first: the controller. Smaller and shorter than it looked in the original announcement videos, we were warned that it was still a prototype design and that several games at E3 would use it connected to the Wii with a wire that wouldn't ...

As various Nintendo execs took the stage in Hollywood this morning, several new titles for Wii were shown on a massive screen behind them. Wonder what Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves look like in motion? Stop eyeballing the screens and check out our two videos. The first movie is more of a "selling the idea" reel, mixing footage of people playing the family friendly Wii titles - Wii Sports and an untitled aerial game among them. Then, the second ...

Nintendo's Revolution console will launch with around 20 games and will be cheaper than Xbox 360 - that's the latest news from around the Nintendo campfire according to company bigwig George Harrison. Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, has indicated that Revolution will probably have around 20 games available when the console launches and that "maybe a third" of those will be in-house Nintendo creations. The Nintendo VP also ...

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has voiced his concerns over the high prices that publishers are charging for the first wave of Xbox 360 games, and claims he doesn't envision the same steep price tag being carried by Nintendo's titles for its Revolution. Speaking specifically about the US market, Iwata offered his belief that next-gen games would "cost an awful lot." While early adopters and tech-heads may currently be prepared to pay top dollar (hitting $60 a pop right now) for titles, it's ...

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that Revolution, Nintendo's incoming next-gen console, won't be receiving a global launch. "We don't think it's necessary to do the simultaneous worldwide launch simply because others are doing this," said Iwata in an interview with Bloomberg. It's hardly a surprise, and not just because Nintendo has a history of taking its time with regards to western releases of both hardware and software. Global launches are a massively stressful challenge; while ...

Today Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced that the Revolution's Virtual Console will not only feature titles from Nintendo's past library, but also Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx games. Of course, even hearing past the word "Sega" was difficult, as the clearly-excited crowd began to, as we like to call it, "freak the hell out." Ten years ago, Sega and Nintendo were the most bitter of rivals. You could practically start a fistfight just by trash-talking one of the consoles. Now we can all ...

Mere weeks ago, Nintendo announced that there have been more than one million unique logins for its Wi-Fi Connection service. It achieved that goal in less than four months. With such an astounding success, it's hard to believe Nintendo's stance on online gaming has, until very recently, been indifferent at best. But the company's internet presence is poised to grow even more. Much like the Nintendo DS, the upcoming Revolution console will support Wi-Fi from the get-go. You'll be able to ...

Nintendo will announce a new franchise for Revolution at the annual E3 games show this May, with the goal of creating another big success story like gaming behemoths Zelda, Mario, and Nintendogs. "This year's E3 will be Revolution's coming out party," according to Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's executive vice president of sales and marketing. In an online interview Reggie confirmed that new franchises and "a lot of information" will be uncovered at this year's event. Reggie also revealed ...

Nintendo's done a bang up job of delivering quirky games across all genres, but for action fans, a visceral first-person shooter still hasn't made the cut. That could change with the Revolution. Ubisoft is preparing a first-person shooter for the console, and seeing as the company's recently teamed with TimeSplitters developer Free Radical, we're hoping to see a quality FPS on launch day. That genre in particular, seems to interest Nintendo. "I was a developer for many years before my current ...
