Wii Preview | Super Paper Mario
Thursday 18 January 2007 To Wii or not to Wii? That is the fan-angering, sniggersome question provoked by Nintendo's dithering back and forth as to just how we'll be playing Super Paper Mario. One second it's a GameCube exclusive, the next it's also on the Wii, and now it's apparently only on the Wii. Nintendo doesn't seem to know what's going on; leading us to make plans to hijack the next Ask Iwata session to squeeze answers from the head honchos. The game adopts the charming 2D stylings of ...

Wii Preview | Super Smash Bros. Brawl
If Mario Galaxy is a celebration of everything that makes the bounding plumber special, then Smash Bros. Brawl takes it one step further: a celebration of everything that makes Nintendo special. Name any Nintendo franchise and the likelihood is that you can play as a character from it or at least yank out some element from the game to help smash a foes face off. The concept is as simple as ever - damage your opponent to the extent that you can blast them from the fighting arena. Now bundle ...

Wii Preview | Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Dec 3, 2007 It never stops growing! No, not that mole on your grannys neck - Smash Bros. With 3 months to go and still time left to announce Phoenix Wright on the roster (dont we wish), this game is cementing its position as the greatest game ever made. But why speculate when what has been confirmed already has our hearts beating at worrying rates? After a Sonic-flavored roundhouse kick, Brawl maestro Masahiro Sakurai has continued his offensive with a level design function (yay!) and ...

Wii Preview | Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Sneaky Nintendo. They didn't utter a single syllable about the Wii entry in the Super Smash Brothers franchise. Yet, tonight, in a special event for a select few lucky souls, we got our first look at it. And Nintendo even gave us video. Many of the details of the new game, titled Super Smash Bros. Brawl, are still vague: the release date is just "2007", and while we're promised online modes and a more robust single-player experience, there's no word on how that will actually be ...

Wii Preview | Super Smash Bros. Brawl
We've known about the Revolution for almost two years now and have barely heard a peep about actual software coming out for the system. But of the few titles confirmed, multiplayer beat 'em up Super Smash Bros. is the first to make us slightly wee ourselves in anticipation. We threw some classic screens up just to honor the occasion. To say little is known is … about all we can say. Other than the fact that it'll exist, nothing is currently known. But for, oh, a few million Nintendo ...

Wii Preview | Super Swing Golf
Are you one of those people who just cant see the point of playing sports in a videogame? Because isnt the whole goal of sports to engage in physical activity… while the end result of videogames is usually a whole lot of sitting on your ass? If so, the Nintendo Wii may be the console for you. For example - golf. Most gaming translations of the sport have you pressing buttons and not much else. But Wii launch title Super Swing Golf forces you to stand up, grab a club (in this case, the ...

Wii Preview | Super Swing Golf
The Wii will take tired old ideas and make them sing, at least for the first year. That's the only conclusion we could draw after hands-on time with Super Swing Golf. On the face of it, there's not much creativity in this game: it's stuffed with saccharine little girls in frilly skirts hitting golf balls through winter wonderlands while excruciatingly bouncy music beats your brain into a pink pulp. But, when you use the Wii controller to make a shot... See, this is just Mario Golf in ...

Wii Preview | Super Swing Golf
Tecmo has announced plans to bring PangYa, an online golf game you've probably never heard of, to the Nintendo Revolution when the system launches in Japan later this year. PangYa is currently playable on PCs across the world, and is very popular in Japan. According to the official English website's charmingly poor description, "PangYa is a casual golf game that takes difficult rules of golf and transforms it into cute and easy to understand format so that everyone can enjoy it together." ...

Wii Preview | Super Swing Golf Season 2
Nov 2, 2007 Super Swing Golf Season 2 is not only a game about golf; it's a game about putting on a Rachel from Ninja Gaiden costume, replacing your golf clubs with a set of ninja swords and then playing golf. Super Swing 2 still has a pretty wacky spin on playing golf. The only thing it seems to take seriously - like the first game - are the mechanics of the game. Behind the bright characters and inflatable humor, in the near complete version of the game we played, we found some very ...
