Wii Preview | Spore
Jan 15, 2008 Playing with Spores electronic clay nearly a year ago, we were struck by just how complete the character creation tools were. Spores remit, to take a species from microbe to UFO, may be massive but back then it felt ready, and real. Stretching out flesh, bolting on limbs, arranging faces - it all worked. Then, nothing. The game went back into development. New hires (Soren Johnson, the lead designer of Civilization 4 was the last high-profile addition), and no news pointed to a ...

Wii Preview | Sports Party
Finally a sports game with something to offer gamers that they cant get anywhere else (in North America, at least). Lawn darts were banned on the continent in the late 80s when the Consumer Product Safety Commission discovered that the 12-inch projectiles could cause skull punctures and other injuries. Not so in Summer Sports: Paradise Island; the only injuries you're going to have to worry about with this multiplayer party game for the Wii are sprained wrists and bruised egos. Lawn darts is ...

Wii Preview | SPRay
Wii - SPRay - A pleasant look at the barfing of SPRay

The word “SPRay” is technically a shorter way to refer to the main character “Spirited King Ray,” but we like to refer to it affectionately as “The Barfing Game.” In addition to having a hero’s standard sword, two floating spirits named Gush and Liad follow Ray through this kid-centric action-puzzler. ...

Wii Preview | Spyborgs

Wii isn't exactly known for its unique third party titles. At best we'll see a port or an old sequel rehashed for a "new audience," maybe even a side-sequel like Soulcalibur Legends or Umbrella Chronicles that is supposed to make us forget the real sequel isn't coming. For this reason alone we applaud Spyborgs, even without having played a second of the game. Whether or not it's any good, however, remains to be seen.

Initially ...

Wii - Spyborgs - Capcom's Captivate 08 coverage

Last week Capcom revealed one of its strongest lineups in ages during the Captivate 08 event (we briefly talked about it on TalkRadar). The embargos have lifted and now we're able to say what we saw, what we played and what totally stole the show (it surprised the hell out of us, that's for sure). We'll be adding links throughout the day, so read on! ...

Wii Preview | SSX Blur
Last night we celebrated the upcoming release of EA Montreal's SSX Blur at what was likely the coldest launch party ever, located in the famed Ice Hotel in Quebec. Blur 's development team didn't seem phased by the sub-zero temperature, and enthusiastically handed us the controls to the SSX franchise's Wii debut. It's a good thing that Blur requires almost no button pressing to play, because by the time we picked up a pair of controllers, we'd forgotten what our fingers felt like. ...

Wii Preview | SSX Blur
After taking a breather for the past couple of years, it looks like the snowboarding champ is about to make a comeback. SSX Blur will reintroduce everything you already loved about the series, but it'll do so with a substantial Wii twist. The linkable tricks, flips and grinds that constantly propel you forward will now rely on Wii Remote gestures and button presses instead of traditional controls. The biggest moves of them all, the Uber Tricks, will actually have you tracing on-screen patterns ...

Wii Preview | Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Wii - Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - hands-on

When you say "Star Wars fighting game," the first thing that pops into most gamers' minds is the dreadful Masters of Teras Kasi, a fighter from the original PlayStation days. Force Unleashed, however, hopes to make one-on-one force brawling appealing again by dropping 27 characters from across the franchise into nine different destructible environments and, best of all, let you go totally nuts with force-abusing recklessness. ...

Wii Preview | Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
When it comes to the Star Wars universe, Haden Blackman is the most knowledgeable man alive (outside of George Lucas, of course). At one point in his career, he was the guy in charge of continuity across every single piece of Star Wars product in existence. Now, LucasArts has tapped his veritable font of wisdom and lore by making him the project lead for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which takes place during the tumultuous-but-unexplored years between Episodes III and IV. LucasArts invited us ...

Wii Preview | Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart Wii was an awesome revelation, Metroid still looks amazing and we're sure Wii Fit will be huge, but when Nintendo opened the floodgates to its playable games at this year's E3 we had our minds set on one game - Super Mario Galaxy. Every time Nintendo shows more of this game it looks even more incredible, and this year's E3 showing was no different. In fact, we got more than we'd bargained for, with not only new levels shown but all-new powers and gameplay mechanics, ...
