Wii Preview | Geometry Wars: Galaxies
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was the best 5 bucks you could spend on gaming last year. You could feel like you really got your money's worth, even though the game had only one level - one neverending, nerves shredding, relentless level. It was the intensity, the challenge, and the bragging rights that brought the game alive. The trippy visuals and enemies that seemed themed after Lucky Charms marshmallows didn't hurt, either. Yesterday we got to pick up and play both the Wii and DS versions of ...

Wii Preview | Geometry Wars: Galaxies
Of all the Xbox 360 titles that might have crossed over to the Nintendo side… well, we could hardly have been more taken aback if Microsoft had finally confirmed the long-rumored handheld version of Halo. Anyway, the mighty Geometry Wars is on its way to Wii and DS, and anyone who played the 360 version will know what brilliant news this is - not least because Geometry Wars Galaxies here features enhancements to the classic original, including new weapons, new enemies and two-player ...

Wii Preview | Ghost Squad
When there's terrorists in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? Ghostbus…uh, Squad. Part of the UN's Global Humanitarian-Operation and Special Tactics Squad, they're the stars of Sega's 2004 arcade successor to Virtua Cop, now heading Wii-wards. Directing your aim with the remote pointer, as in Wii Play (albeit with more terrorists and less crappy fishing), the game plays like a padded-out Virtua Cop. The usual disarming shots, headshots and precision shooting multipliers make an ...

Wii - Ghostbusters The Video Game - Ghostbusters vs the Real Ghostbusters

When Atari's Ghostbusters games ship next year, it'll have been a mere 25 years since Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson first donned their proton packs for the big screen and "Who you gonna call?" was a national catch phrase. In that time there have been a number of videogames that attempted to bring the loveable foursome home, but none have really captured the core spirit of the films. Until now. ...

Wii - Ghostbusters The Video Game - Ghostbusters - hands-on

For children of the '80s, there are many pop culture touchtones - just watch VH1 on any given Sunday and you will see dozens of examples. One of the biggest was Ghostbusters, and after two decades since Ghostbusters II and the series' descent into nostalgic obscurity, it's making a return in a big way to consoles and PC. That is a damn sight better than Extreme Ghostbusters...

Granted, thanks to the wonders of the internet and ...

Wii Preview | Ghostbusters The Video Game
Dec 4, 2007 Thanksgiving, 1991. The events of the Ghostbusters II movie - oil-painted villain Vigo the Carpathian vanquished by Dr. Peter Venkman and team - took place two years ago. But the city of New York has embraced the law of original Ghostbusters baddie Gozer, and a museum dedicated to his (her?) architecture and art is about to open. So it looks like the perfect time for our spook-smashing heroes to set up an offshoot franchise team - with you as the newest recruit. Yada, yada, yada. ...

Wii Preview | The Godfather: Blackhand Edition
Just when we thought we'd played through enough versions of The Godfather to choke a horse (and presumably decapitate it afterward), two more were announced: The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for Wii and The Godfather: The Don's Edition for PS3. Due out in March - a full year after the last-gen versions hit - the new titles seemed like a blatant attempt to milk as much money as possible from the Godfather license. Once we stopped rolling our eyes long enough to actually play them, however, it ...

Wii Preview | Godzilla: Unleashed
All guy-in-rubber-suit jokes aside, who wouldn't want to be the title titan in a Japanese giant monster movie? You get to stomp around, belch laser beams, munch on some people or maybe a nuclear reactor, and demolish every single thing in your path as you defend your hood from other 200-ton freaks of nature. Then, some toy company makes an action figure that looks like you. What's not to love? This basic philosophy looks to be proven true by the latest in publisher Atari's line of monster ...

Wii Preview | The Golden Compass
Nov 5, 2007 Frankly, anyone who's read the His Dark Materials trilogy should want to experience the game and film almost as much as wanting a monkey-shaped demon of their own. By now, the film trailer will be playing in cinemas and you'll probably have seen the amazingly recreated world of Jordan College, Bolvangar and the North on screen for yourself. And we can report that the game - which is being developed by Shiny - is shaping up to have all the best bits from the film, and more on top of ...

Wii Preview | GT Pro Series
If there's one thing Wii's launch games have covered, it's gotta be variance. Pretty much any genre you can think of is represented in some way, even the gear-headed, customize-your-ride racer. GT Pro Series throws more than 80 licensed cars your way, each with tweakable options that you've seen in plenty of games up to this point. So what's the angle with this one? Well, a free steering wheel is a pretty cool bonus. GT ships with a tiny plastic wheel that comfortably nestles the Wii remote ...
