Wii Preview | Disaster: Day of Crisis
November 16, 2007 For a game that includes city-decimating tsunamis and monster volcanoes spewing red hot lava at you, Disaster has remained remarkably low key. Still, these first in-game screenshots revealed by Nintendo this month suggest the game's on track to deliver a pulse-pounding adventure. Even if the hero is called ...

Wii Preview | Disaster: Day of Crisis
Wednesday 10 May 2006 The first details of Disaster: Day of Crisis - which was unveiled at today's Nintendo pre-E3 press conference - have emerged and shed a little more light on this intriguing new Wii title. In the game, players assume the role of Ray - a former member of an elite rescue force - and must weather the storm as a barrage of natural disasters pummels the United States. The catastrophic game of cat-and-mouse includes racing away from hot volcanic rock and ash, dodging falling ...

Wii Preview | DK Barrel Blast
Amusingly, even Nintendo isn't quite sure what this is called anymore. We don't blame them: you'll probably remember that it was Donkey Kong Bongo Blast a couple of years back - but that was when it was destined for GameCube, and controlled with the plug-in bongos that originally came packaged with Donkey Konga. And it also borrows bits from GameCube's cancelled Donkey Kong Racing, too. We'd like to suggest they name it "Donkey Kong's Formerly Bongo-Controlled But Keeping The Spirit Of The ...

Wii Preview | The Dog Island
Theres no denying that The Dog Islands concept artwork is exactly the sort of adorable that will immediately sucker in all the same people who still feel the need to check up on their Nintendog every now and again. Similarly, the sort of people who gleefully deleted their ex-girlfriends Nintendog post-breakup will no doubt have been immediately repulsed by the idea - its that sort of big-eyed, lash-fluttering, innocent-acting, emotionally manipulative ...

Wii Preview | Dokapon Kingdom
Wii - Dokapon Kingdom - What is a Dokapon Kingdom?

Dokapon Kingdom seems like one of Dr. Frankenstein's experiments at first - at its heart it’s a traditional, turn-based RPG, but its exterior looks more like a board game style party game. The two genres couldn't be further apart, but put them together and you get a highly competitive multiplayer experience in the guise of a party game, but with the deep structure of an RPG.

The goal of Dokapon is simple: whoever earns ...

Wii Preview | Don King Presents: Prizefighter
Wii - Don King Presents: Prizefighter - Don King Presents: Prizefighter - exclusive screens

At first glance, Don King Presents: Prizefighter seems like it’ll be doomed to play second fiddle to the current champion of boxing games, Fight Night. But Prizefighter may offer boxing fans what they never got from Fight Night: Round 3, a level of realism that transcends the beads of sweat that fly from your next-gen boxer’s head.

According to Don King, “[Prizefighter] is more than a game - it is a glimpse at what ...

Wii Preview | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
When plans to put Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on the Wii were first announced, imaginations went wild. Would players be able to hold Wii remotes in each hand to beat down space-karate enthusiasts with their actual fists? Could they throw fireballs with the same motions the characters use? Now that we've actually played the game on a Wii, we know Tenkaichi 2 isn't quite as mind-blowing as we first imagined - but it's still pretty cool. Like in the PS2 edition, you'll fly around a huge, ...

Wii Preview | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
After about umpteen kajillion attempts at making a Dragon Ball Z game, last year's Budokai Tenkaichi was the first to really get it right. Unfolding from a third-person perspective, it captured the feel of the mega-popular anime almost perfectly, enabling players to freely fly around a huge, 3D battlefield while beating the crap out of a super-powered opponent in lightning-fast aerial fistfights. The sequel - imaginatively titled Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 - is poised to build on the ...

Wii Preview | Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire
Aug 17, 2007 It's borderline tragic that Dragon Blade sports such a generic title, because this looks like a game that actually has something refreshing to offer Wii owners sick of clumsy ports with haphazard motion controls. Ignoring for a moment the game's "newness" - so is the atrocious but original Escape From Bug Island, after all - what we've seen so far reveals a game that makes great use of the Wii remote's potential. Imagine a family-friendly God of War where you use simple gestures ...

Wii Preview | Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire
Just a little while ago, it seemed like the Wii might just be a gutter for Spongebob games and lazy PS2 ports. But things are changing - and that's good. Dragon Blade may suffer from a painfully generic title, but it befits the content of the game: a hack-and-slash adventure where your sword has been possessed by the spirit of a powerful red dragon. Better yet, the game looks to marry traditional adventure gameplay with Wii Remote control. We don't really know much about the story besides this ...
