Wii - Okami - Capcom label Okami DarkZero write: "We are very used to adverts spouting hyperbole, coming up with clever slogans, and talking all kinds of crap in a myriad of different ways to get your attention. Some ads for games cross slow tempo music with the action on screen to set the scene. Some ask you to believe in a hero. Then, others show a family, almost always consisting of four people sitting around a TV playing with a silly white remote none of us thought would work.

It is rare to see an advert truly hit home, and get right to the point. But with it's latest web advert for Okami Wii the company have done just that, as they label it "the best game you never played."

Wii - Okami - Okami art website launches Big thanks from Capcom for all the support fans have given them over the release of Okami for Wii.

To celebrate the imminent launch of Okami on Wii, Capcom wanted to find a special way to thank the Okami fans who encouraged the publisher to give the highly praised game a second chance.

Pre-order bonus art books were an option but Capcom didn't feel the format did the art justice and this also limited the reward to those buying the new Wii version and not the previous PS2 version.

What Capcom decided was to launch a dedicated website on which they could present Okami artwork.

Wii - Okami - Capcom confirms full widescreen mode for Okami Videogamer reports that according to correspondence from Capcom PR, the final version of Okami for Wii will sport a fully functional 16x9 mode and not the bordered version seen in the early screen shots.

"I know you guys are lovin' the Okami Wii goodness right now. It's about to get even better because we've got a fresh build coming your way next week," Capcom told IGN. "You might have noticed the aspect ratio was a little off. We did too, and the build you're receiving will display in full 16:9 (no black bars on the sides). Now you'll get to experience the game the way it was intended to be seen."

Sadly there's still no confirmation that the canvas filter seen in the PS2 game will be implemented in the Wii version.

Wii - Okami - GDC: Okami deserves glory second time around Unlike most standout videogames sucked into the quicksand of mediocrity, the game-buying public has been afforded a second chance with Okami, because wolf-god Amaterasu, evil demon Orochi, inch-high artist Issun, and the mighty powers of the Celestial Brush are coming to the Nintendo Wii.

M&C Gaming truly hopes that the motion-sensing attributes of the Wii -- which are perfectly suited for Okami's various battle and gameplay-related brush strokes -- cause gamers to sit up, take note, and grab the chance to lose themselves in one of the greatest games of the last decade.

Wii - Okami - Okami Wii Still 4:3? Nope, 16:9 Confirmed! Kotaku reports in a listing for the upcoming Wii port of Okami on their company store, Capcom have posted a bunch of screenshots (the button prompts show it is indeed the Wii version). Tiny, tiny screenshots. Which are very, very concerning. With extra content out of the question, there were only two things that would set the Wii version apart from the PS2 one: Wii Remote brush control and 16:9. A product update on the very same page now shows that the game's been confirmed to support 16:9, 480p widescreen.

Wii - Okami - Capcom Sr. Director on the future of Okami In the official Capcom forums, MrFaptastic asked:

"I've been wondering a bit what the point of porting Okami is. I know in the past it's been stated that you guys felt that the game deserved a second chance and such...but what about the future? Is this a move to simply try and turn a better profit on the game? Or are you guys trying to give it a second shot at becoming a franchise and making sequels?

Basically, if Okami Wii sells well, are sequels even a remote possibility?"

Here's the full response from Christian Svensson, Capcom Vice-President of Strategic Planning & Business Development:

"Technically, yes but I think that's an outside chance. We have reasonable but modest expectations for the title. I'll be very disappointed if we can't hit those.

On that outside chance it happens to 'destroy' said expectations, we'd have to think hard about new content (though admittedly, that's even quite difficult without Kimea's and Inaba's brilliant input on the project).

Editing: For you media or forum crossposters, please don't position this as 'OMG Okami sequel confirmed total!' as it's not that. It's an obvious statement of, if this thing blows up, then we have to consider what it means to the future of the brand."

Jan 16, 2008 Choosing a console to develop for in the current generation is a tough decision it seems, as ex-Clover boss and Okami producer Atsushi Inaba points out the issues with all three platforms. Inaba, who's now in the top seat at the newly-formed Seeds studio, highlights Nintendo's dominance of software sales with its first-party titles as the key problem with Wii and DS. "The Wii and the DS are selling very well, but in terms of software Nintendo is obviously the best-selling ... » Read More

Wii - Okami - Trusted Reviews: Top 20 Games of the Year: Part One Trusted Reviews: Games of the Year - Part One.

As our Andy noted back in November, it has been a fantastic year for games, In fact, it's arguably been the best year ever. However, all that bounty has left us in a dilemma. We originally planned a top ten list for the end of the year, but looking at the long list of titles we've been forced to expand that to twenty - and even then we've had to sacrifice a few of our darlings and lose a couple of still great franchise updates that we felt didn't quite do enough to justify inclusion: Sorry Unreal Tournament III and Sega Rally, apologies Guitar Hero III, Football Manager 2008 and Pro Evo.

18th Dec, 2007 There are some things that developers and publishers just don't want you to know. And given the unnaturally high number of game announcements, hardware revelations, industry shake-ups, and all round cool things going on this year, they've wanted you to not know a lot during 2007. Thankfully though, the internet exists, and thus nothing is sacred. That's the eternal irony of the games industry. Wii News | Okami
Oct 23, 2007 It all makes sense. Okami was brilliant on PS2, its lush visuals and dreamy atmosphere combining to excellent effect and helping to make it one of the console's greatest games. Even the 'draw shape/line to trigger attack/event' gameplay, which could have been awkward, worked adequately with the analogue sticks. But on Wii, the paintbrush now commanded with a flick of the Wiimote, Okami comes together like a masterpiece. At least, we expect it to. Our first look comprised of the ... » Read More
