Publisher Ubisoft has revealed details of its massive marketing campaign for Wii game Academy of Champions – and claimed its unique appeal to younger gamers can help it become a 'serious player' in the soccer genre.

The title is aimed at six to nine year-old kids, with promotional activity planned across radio, TV, online and print – including mags aimed at young females such as Go Girl.

"Academy of Champions Football is a party football game for kids and sits perfectly with the Wii audience," said senior brand manager Phil Brannelly.

Namco Bandai today released their Q1 2010 earnings report. And buried amidst the boring money stuff (net sales are down 15.8%) is something a little more interesting: game sales data.

Listed were the publisher's top five-selling games for the quarter ending June 30, 2009 (as in, only those sold during that three-month period, not lifetime sales). Those expecting Nintendo-like numbers will be disappointed, but those who love Afro Samurai - or just numbers in general - will be thrilled!

Kotaku writes: "Namco Bandai Wii title Active Life: Outdoor Challenge (aka Family Trainer: Athletic World in Japan and Family Trainer in Europe) has sold over a million copies worldwide.

The game is bundled with a Power Pad style matt, which was also originally developed by Bandai for Famicom title Family Trainer. The updated pad and game first went on sale May 29, 2008 in Japan. It went on sale in North America and Europe this past September."

Nintendo has served Virtual Console with two Master System classics this week: Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars, and Secret Command (also known as Rambo: First Blood II in US).

Alex Kidd punches stuff with his giant fist again to "recover the twelve Miracle Balls and restore the stars of the Aries Constellation", while Secret Command is old-school shooting that sees you "play as a lone warrior, armed to the teeth, sent on a top secret commando mission behind enemy lines to liberate your comrades at arms".

The first concrete clue that it's going to appear in another region is it just got rated by the OFLC. Hudson wouldn't invest resources to localize the WiiWare pinball game into English if they didn't have plans to release it everywhere. I think it's safe to say we're getting it, probably soon."

Spencer reports to Siliconera that the update to the classic pinball game will hit Japan WiiWare service this month. It seems that Hudson will also sells additional balls and stages as DLC. The basic module, which includes online multiplayer mode will cost 800 Wii Points in Japan.
