THQ announces Wii launch line-up (Barnyard)

THQ celebrates the upcoming launch of Nintendo's Wii video game console with a title lineup featuring the biggest brands in kids entertainment. Disney Pixar's Cars, Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature From the Krusty Krab, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Barnyard support the debut of the new Wii system.

Baroque for Europe, Wii and PS2 (Baroque)

Rising Star Games has confirmed Baroque for a European release on Wii and PS2.

"Dark, addictively challenging and totally immersive, Baroque is a pure RPG experience," said the press release.

Baroque will be available on Friday, June 27 on both formats.

It looks like Baroque is getting pushed back yet again, as the release window of March is no more. Actually, it could still be on track for a March release, however word from gaming retail giant GameStop is that the game is releasing on the 8th of April. To add more credibility to this rumor, Gamefly is saying the game isn't releasing until the 10th of April.

Kuju buoyant over Battalion Wars II success in Japan (Battalion Wars 2)

Totsugeki!!! Famicom Wars VS - known as Battalion Wars II outside of Japan - launched in the sixth position on the All-Formats chart and is behind only Mario Kart and Wii Fit on the Wii charts for the second week running.

That's an impressive showing in a generally quiet market in Japan after the recent "Golden Week" holiday. It is also impressive when you consider that US and European games haven't done particularly well in the territory - although recent high-status titles may be starting to shift public opinion.

"I have the impression that a certain Western exoticism plays a part in attracting attention to the title," Kuju London's creative director Tancred Dyke-Wells told GamesIndustry.biz.

Kuju-developed warfare will be kicking off on Wii on September 24 when Battalion Wars 2 (or BWii for short) hits stores, according to the latest issue of Nintendo Power. The latest issue of Nintendo Power suggests that the long-awaited sequel will arrive on September 24.

Battalion Wars 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the original Battalion Wars on the Gamecube. It is being developed by Kuju Entertainment and is set to include online multiplayer.

Wii Virtual Console Gets Battle Lode Runner This Monday (Battle Lode Runner - Virtual Console)

Hudson has updated their website and has revealed that Battle Lode Runner is the next title to hit the Wii Virtual Console on 4/23. The original platform for the game was TurboGrafx 16, so Battle Lode Runner will cost 600 Wii Points.

Hudson Soft is giving Wii owners its second dose of Bonk with Bonk's Revenge. The Turbo-Grafx 16 platformer is due sometime next month on the Virtual Console, according to the publisher's official list. Also on the list for next month are Dragon's Curse, Bravoman, Battle Lode Runner and Shockman. Bravoman stands as only the second TurboGrafx-16 game from Namco Bandai, and only the fourth title not distributed by Hudson Soft.

The first title to be released, Dragon's Curse, is scheduled for next Monday, April 2. All titles will be priced the usual 600 Wii Points for purchase. Also known for next month are three from Sega, including a 2-dimensional Virtua Fighter 2. No word on what classic titles, if any, Nintendo will release in April.

THQ confirms fiscal 2009 video game line-up (Battle of the Bands)

THQ has today unveiled the key titles that will form the publisher's fiscal 2009 video game line-up. Scheduled for release in the 12-month period ending March 31, 2009 are a range of new editions to existing franchises, new original games and social and party titles.

Gamers can look forward to new editions of multi-million unit franchises, including Saints Row 2, Red Faction: Geurrilla and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009. All new video game titles on the way include Darksiders: Wrath of War, Deadly Creatures and de Blob. Additionally THQ plans to release new social and party games for the Wii, including Battle of the Bands and Big Beach Sports.
