Wii - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Kojima praises Smash Bros. Brawl Unknowing to most Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai was hidden in the back row of the recent Snake Vs. Wii News | Nintendo Wii
Friday 27 April 2007 Today, some bright spark from the always-topical NeoGaf forums has reminded us of a very special anniversary. Did you realise it was a year ago today that Nintendo renamed its new Revolution console, giving it the much less powerful moniker of 'Wii'? It was a rebranding that triggered such a negative response the internet had a minus sign over it for days. If you don't remember the sort of pun-tastic complaints that flash-fried the web, then why not take a step back in ...

Wii News | DK Barrel Blast
Friday 27 April 2007 Gamecube's cancelled Donkey Kong racing game DK Bongo Blast has finally resurfaced on Wii - and we've got the first shots to prove it. The game is a Mario Kart-style racer, only more like Sonic Riders, thanks to Donkey Kong's jet-powered bongos and massive jumps. The screens show some nice blurring effects on close-up objects and the usual locales are all present and correct. There's a jungle, a lava level, an ice stage, a tropical island... but it all looks nice and ...

When a developer sits down to create a game that involves a central starring character it's probably the most important part of the whole game making process. The key is to design a character who is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also someone you care about and believe in. Get it wrong or misjudge what your audience wants and your game baby might never turn into the multi-million dollar franchise you'd hoped ...

Wii News | The Bigs
Of all the major sports, baseball might just be the least accessible as a gaming experience. Between obscure laws like the infield fly rule and knowing what pitch is best to throw in a 2-1 count, it's just not that easy to pick up and play. That's probably what 2K Sports and Visual Concepts were thinking when they thought up The Bigs, a new baseball title that aims to be an accessible, arcade-style experience. Now we've got some new details and screenshots to share with ...

There aren't any full-price, fully 2D games on next-gen. No platformers, no shooters, no top-down RPGs - not even any 2D fighters. The third dimension has swallowed them all and banished TWAZA (Those Without A 'Z' Axis) to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network for evermore. Or so you might think. Part the 3D bushes and you'll start to see two familiar lines. They're labelled X and Y. They may be hidden away very cleverly, but they're still a fundamental aspect of many 3D games. Their ...
