US magazine Nintendo power claims that the Wii will launch with just 6 games later this year, They are Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel, Monkey Ball, Dragon Quest and Rayman. It seems strange that if this were true, Nintendo would release without Mario or Wii sports and I would expect that Tony Hawks and Madden 07 would also be launch titles along with excite truck.

Despite message board buzz and strong reviews, the Wii-exclusive Excitebots: Trick Racing sold just 13,000 units in the U.S. for its April debut, research firm NPD Group told Gamasutra on Friday.

The Nintendo-published game launched in the latter half of NPD's retail calendar on April 20, so the game has yet to reach even a full month of availability on store shelves. (NPD's retail calendar for April ended on May 2.)

But the amount of units sold is still low, considering the popularity of the game's predecessor, Excite Truck, the strong reviews, and the buzz amongst the press and hardcore fans.

NPD said the game wasn't even able to crack the top 100 games by unit sales during the month of April.

This week's edition of Critical Reception examines online reaction to Monster Games' Excite Truck sequel Excitebots: Trick Racing for Wii, which reviews describe as "an engaging, exciting blast." Excitebots currently earns a score of 80 out of 100 at Metacritic.com.

IGN's Matt Casamassina rates Excitebots at 8.4 out of 10. "It's been nearly three years since Nintendo released the Monster Games-developed Excite Truck for Wii and in so doing surprised racing fans with a compelling, if not thrilling title that took the neglected franchise into a new high-flying direction," he says.
