Remember when TV shows had writers instead of unfunny, adlibbing presenters? Remember when they had cast and crew rather than contestants? Yeah, good, wasn't it? Alas, producers have long since realised that it's far more profitable to invite the terminally self-esteem deficient to flail themselves into a sub-human state of devolution, like primitive man performing a ritualistic dance in order to invoke a quick-fix sense of personal relevence via the medium of being that guy who smashed his face open on that thing on TV.

They gain dubious self-respect. The unblinking sofa morlocks soaking it up with their big stupid fried-egg eyes achieve the same by not being that idiot who smashed his face open on TV. And the whole thing costs around the price of a bag of chips to make. Yay!

And now they're dragging video games into it. Poor old Pac-Man. He deserves better.

In keeping with its tradition of celebrating historical events, the Maestro of Search has created a custom "doodle" to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man. This doodle, however, is the first ever fully interactive Google logo - just give it a second or hit the "Insert Coin" button and it'll kick in, then watch as whatever it was you were about to do wakka-wakkas into oblivion...

Art critics, move over. Pac-Man is invading Tokyo’s 3331 Arts Chiyoda gallery to celebrate his 30th birthday, with an exhibition appropriately titled, “Exhibition Pac-Man 80’s to 10’s Gaming Culture...”

Dec 21, 2007 December is the month of giving and, better yet, receiving. December is the month when sugarplum visions of $400 consoles and $60 games dance through your head. And, of course, December is the month when your loved ones usually just cheap out and buy you a gift card instead. So long as that gift card is an online points card from Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo, however, you'll be alright. With so much downloadable content available for so little money, you could stretch a few

If you've been using google at all today, you're probably aware that Pac-Man is now 30 years old. So for the rest of the day, everyone's suddenly going to be a born-again Pac-Man fanatic. Including, it would seem, the makers of Tetris, who jumped on the bandwagon by wishing Pac-Man (and Namco) a happy birthday.

August is here. That means that it’s going to be hot. I’m not talking hot like it’s hot right now, I mean fuming, scorching, soul blistering hot. That should say one thing to you: T-shirts only. And if you shop for clothes the way we do, your threads may be looking a little out of plush. Lucky for us, we might get this one from British artist Stuart "Bramish" Colebrook if - and it’s a big if - you have the ability, knowledge, and cajones to do what’s right. See, if you want this shirt, you've gotta vote for it...
