You better stay off John Bates's lawn because when it comes to gaming, he can really kick your ass... in WiiSports, at least. The 85-year-old retired school principal has been recognized as the best Wii bowling player in the world...

No one really knows why Clover Studio's Okami failed to light the gaming world on fire, only that if the sheer amount of people who claim to have loved the game actually bought the game, we wouldn't have to ask ourselves this question on an semi-annual basis. Now, in a recent preview for Okamiden, its spiritual successor on the DS, Capcom Producer Motohide Eshiro has weighed in with his own take on Amaterasu's downfall, stating that it was simply a matter of bad timing...

Remember kids, it's not plagiarism if you're only nicking your own ideas back. Especially if you're nicking them back from a company that's doing nothing worthwhile with them. Devil May Cry/Bayonetta Director Hideki Kamiya knows this. Goldeneye/Timesplitters dev Free Radical knew that. And now, it seems, Sonic creator Yuji Naka knows it too.

Having been responsible for the blue hedgehog's Mega Drive glory days and NiGHTS' Saturn debut during his days at Sega, Naka-san now looks set to take back control of both - albeit in a totally unofficial way - with his new, non-Sega game Rodea the Sky Soldier. The joint 3DS  and Wii release might not be a genuine continuation of either series, but good lord, does it look a lot like both. And we've got a trailer to prove it.

Our friends at Official Nintendo Magazine UK have a new episode of Nintendo TV ready for you to peruse via the Wii's Nintendo Channel. Let them tell you about this week's goodness.

Fans of the latest Tron: Evolution game may have to forgo hope of any follow-up DLC, as Disney has announced that it will be shutting down Propaganda Games, the Vancouver based studio behind its development. The disappointing news comes months after the studio cancelled production on Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada Of The Damned and amidst reports of Disney's new-found appreciation for mobile gaming...

Video games have come a fair distance in just few decades, so we're a bit dubious of any video that claims to recount the history of video gaming in just four minutes. Suspicions aside, this slickly shot history lesson by students in Munich gets points for its creativity, and the simple fact that it could very well double as a time-lapse video of our childhoods...

Ah, poor Luigi. Despite his toned physique, superior jumping skills and ghost hunting abilities, his is life doomed to be lived in the shadow of a fat brother who spends an unhealthy amount of time playing mini-games and getting into dysfunctional relationships with princesses. Despite this, Luigi seems to be ok with his place in the Mushroom Kingdom, except in the rare instances when he loses his shit altogether and, well, you'll see...

You hear it all the time: “people who play games need to get out more often.” Well, at least, you do if you hang out at old-age homes not equipped with Wiis, or frequent forums for self-hating gamers. Obviously that's a patent falsehood: 2011's player is a well-rounded individual with myriad interests and enthusiasms. Indeed, some of them are so passionate about getting out in the world that they bring their favorite old-school game characters with them...
