Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

Rip faces off with a twist of the wrist

As a port of a year-old game, Armageddon pulls off the Wii conversion with more panache than any other port to date. Fighting feels refreshing, a miracle after two run-of-the-mill GC offerings. But we mustn’t let this overshadow the fact that this is still a year-old current-gen game, complete with graphics to match. Although worth a look, it feels more like a great beginning for MK on Wii, rather than the definitive Mortal Kombat entry.

You'll love
  • Simple, yet fun gameplay
  • So many modes, characters
  • Nails Wii controls
You'll hate
  • Ease of controls = dumbed down
  • Current-gen graphics
  • Miss the character-specific fatalities
