Dave Bondi's AKASHI figure is a great smash-up of two of the worlds most noticeable characters, Mickey and Mario. The physical features of both melt together seamlessly as each lend a "hand" into creating something new. AKASHI stands a proud 9? tall and is limited to only 200 pieces.

Core Gaming Group, Nintendo's representative company in South Africa, launched two popular Wii titles at a press event held this past Friday in Johannesburg. In addition, after roughly a year of the world's best selling handheld console being absent from the South African market, Core Group relaunched the Nintendo DS Lite.

The media briefing was presented by RJ van Spaandonk, the executive director of Core Group. RJ outlined the upcoming Wii releases, detailed the Nintendo DS Lite relaunch information and discussed the success that the Nintendo Wii has enjoyed in South Africa since its launch here in October 2007.

The Nintendo DS Lite was relaunched in South Africa and will soon be available in stores. It will retail at R1 799 and is available in four colours: black, white, silver and pink.
9th Dec, 2008

Just what in the hell is going on with Mario and Peach? It was so simple back in the old NES days of Super Mario Bros. She got herself kidnapped, he went after her with the help of Luigi, and all ended happily ever after. Or so we thought. The thing is that it didn't really. It's become ever more apparent that since that first rescue things have only ever got messier, dirtier and more manipulative in their relationship. Far from the innocent damsel and hero set-up that appeared ...
Gaming is an up and down experience. Some years cram top quality titles into our every orifice until were bursting with videogame joy and have excess polygons dripping messily out of our ears, while some other years… Well, some other years are 1983.

In 2007 though, weve had a very good year indeed. A scarily good year in fact. One which has provided us so much brilliance on every format that its a genuine worry that the laws of karmic balance will soon bring us a plague ...

Nintendo revealed six first party-published Wii games that have sold over a million copies worldwide on October 26. IGN reports five out of the six:

1. Wii Sports: 11.1 million
2. Wii Play: 6.3 million
3. Mario Party 8: 2.9 million
4. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree: 1.8 million
5. Mario Strikers Charged: 1.3 million

IGN has apparently made an error and omitted the sixth title. According to user comments at IGN and Wikipedia, the missing title could be either The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (3.61 million), Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (1.82 million), or Super Paper Mario (1.74 million).
As if anybody needed to hear this, Mario Strikers Charged is anything but a simulation. The game's true football elements take a back seat to chaos as lightning bolts, lava flows, and yes, the aforementioned flying bovines add additional challenges.

This week we see a rather craptackular collection of goodies for back to school shoppers to scoop up. Perhaps the darling of the bunch is Mario Strikers Charged for the Nintendo Wii. We personally find it to be a bit ironic that both 'Bratz Ponyz' and 'Spelling Challenges & More!' happen to be releasing simultaneously on the Nintendo DS this week!

Check out the full list of new video game releases (USA) for the week of July 30, 2007 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3), Nintendo Wii, Sony PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, and PC (USA)! As always, release dates are subject to change.
There are hardly any barriers in place for Nintendo's online gaming strategy. Were not talking about players injecting reaction-improving drugs up their nostrils - rather, were talking about the trend of repeatedly exploiting glitches and gameplay imbalances to score an easy win over potentially more skilful opponents.

But like the steroid poser, the morality of this issue is a moodylicous shade of gray. After all, these people arent cheating per se, are they? Theyre not breaking the game ...
Of all the GameCube titles we were hoping to see resurrected on Wii, Mario Strikers was never one that really showed up on our radar. After all, the original wasnt hugely impressive, being an exhausting and largely skill-free exercise in button-mashing attrition. If it was an arcade sports game its simplicity might have worked in its favor, but who would pay $50 for something so frantic and random?

But its back, polished up and given a few new Wii controls though essentially unchanged in ...
If you have a thing for the grim and morbid, then you'll feel right at home as we've dug up 100 deaths of our beloved Mario. You should know, however, that these deaths do not make up every death Mario's succumbed to in the last 26 years. That would just be too much for us - the bereaved - to handle.
Mario Strikers Charged is the first online Wii game in the UK, so we've crowbarred ourselves away from the Halo 3 Beta for a few hours to put Mario's online kick-about to the test.

Diving straight in, it takes a few seconds for the Wii to sign into Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Once in, the first thing you're asked to do is choose your Mii - something you should expect most, if not all, online Wii games to do.

After that you're taken to the front-end screen for the online mode where, just above ...
Okay, we get the drill by now: Americans aren't as in love with soccer/football as the rest of the world. Maybe it's because we have the NFL, maybe it's because we have short attention spans so games that end with a score of 2-1 aren't that exciting. Maybe it's because we don't love that guy who shouts "GOAAAAAAALLL!" for such a long time that his face turns blue and his grandkids call 911. Or maybe, just maybe, it's because we couldn't set the goalie's hands on fire, knock opponents out with ...
Console Gaming Launches Mario Strikers Ladder for Europe (News)

"21st May, London, UK ¿ consolegaming.eu, one of Europes largest clan gaming sites today announced that it will be launching the first competitive Nintendo Wii ladder in Europe. This will take the form of Super Mario Strikers.

Marco Spoor, General Manager of Consolegaming.eu stated that "The market is currently dominated by the more conventional competitive ladders such as Rainbow Six: Vegas or Socom, by launching a ladder for Super Mario Strikers we are hoping that we can draw in the casual gamer, and those that want a break from your standard online game and reunite them on the virtual football field. This will bring us closer to achieving our aim of becoming a central hub for which all European gamers can converse and compete in a ladder environment"

Since ConsoleGaming.eu was launched in January 2007 the staff have done a lot to help make the site easier for everyone to use by having the ladders and the forums avaliable in 10 of the most spoken languages in Europe. There are dedicated community managers for each of the languages to provide you with support each step of the way.

Mario Strikers will join the current 11 ladders spread out over the three major formats, Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360. All of which have achieved major success since launching in April, with more ladders being launched all the time.

You are able to register for the ladders at http://mscf.wii.consolegaming.eu/."
After last week's touting of the 44 Wii games Nintendo has in development, the company has since detailed the titles it will be rolling out in Japan this year - and it's a mighty impressive list indeed.

According to the list - which was swiped from financial documents by IGN - Nintendo will release its three big hitters: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Japan this year - and considering their importance, probably the rest of the world as ...
Of the many new tweaks and features built into the Wii sequel, including motion-controlled goal-keeping and tackling mechanics, the most exciting is its compatibility with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which will allow you to compete in ranked matches against other players via the ...
Probably best described as Mario Strikers Evolution, because that's basically all it is - a Wii-enhanced evolution of the decidedly average GameCube title. Most of the new stuff we've already covered in some detail. The enhanced power shot, for example (allowing you to shoot multiple balls at a goal before the defending party gets whisked away to a somewhat ill-advised ball-deflecting mini-game), or the fact that you can now 'tackle' the opposition by flicking the Wii ...
Wednesday 20 September 2006
In a turtle shell - and on the evidence of an extended multiplayer training session - the moustachioed Nintendo mascot's footie Wii run out follows pretty closely in the boots of GameCube's Mario Smash Football, but takes advantage of the kinetically-enhanced remote by throwing some shaky bits into the kit bag.

Now that E3 is pushing up daisies, Germany's Leipzig Game Convention may be the next big thing - Nintendo today used the conference to announce sequels to two of its 2005 hits, Battalion Wars and Super Mario Strikers.

The biggest news bundled with this announcement is that Wars 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) will support three online multiplayer modes. Yes, after what seems like a lifetime of dancing around the obvious, one of Nintendo's consoles is openly embracing online play. ...
Wednesday 23 August 2006
Mario Strikers Charged has been announced for Wii, as a Wii-mote enabled follow up to GameCube footie mash-up Mario Smash Football. With Nunchuk and Wii remote in hand, you'll be controlling Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and a host of other laced-up characters to fill your opponent's goal mouth with iron balls.

We've seen the game in full flow, and special skills like Mega Strikes - near-unstoppable multi-ball assaults on goal - use the Wii-mote's pointer for defending. If ...
