Mario Kart Wii

First Mario Kart Wii battle mode screenshot

The balloons make a welcome return

A screenshot of Mario Kart's battle mode has appeared online, amongst a bunch of stuff we've already seen.

By counting the number of characters on the map, we reckon the mode can support up to eight players. That would be insane.

The appearance of the red balloons confirms that the battle mode hasn't changed dramatically, and the shape of the map implies that the levels will be a little bit more complex than those featured in Double Dash.

Now all we need is the original SNES Mario Kart battle tracks back as a bonus, and we'll never play another game during lunch again.
