A report today from Jesse Divnich at the simExchange says Nintendo has turned casual games and gamers into the primary forces driving the videogame industry. Using data from the holiday 2007 shopping season, the firm said that one factor in the industry's growth has been a larger-than-expected next-generation adoption rate among casual gamers. According to reports from 1up, Nintendo revealed at their annual Fall Conference in Japan this week that Mario Kart on the Wii is going to support up to 12 player games online. So far, no other Wii game has boasted 12 players online in a single match-up, and hints at a streamlined matchmaking system only raise the anticipation levels for the online game.
At the same conference where Nintendo confirmed Sonic as a playable Smash Bros. character, the company also announced that Mario Kart Wii will include motorcycles when it ships next year. While there's no other information about the new Mario Kart vehicle type, we know that Wario already has his own set of two wheels, as pictured above. It'll be interesting to see which characters can ride on two wheels or if it'll be available to one and all.
Fans of Mario Kart and people who still possess the capacity to enjoy things just received tentative confirmation that their futures are going to be so bright that they'll need sunglasses.
