Though MadWorld was praised by critics for taking such a bold step in art direction and game design, consumers were not all that hurried to purchase a copy. Releasing on the Wii might have limited Segas target market, and Sega acknowledged that may have well been the case when discussing lackluster sales figures for MadWorld. Marketing VP Alan Pritchard now says that taking a gamble on the Wii was a mistake, and Sega should have looked to platforms that cater towards gamers who enjoy a spot of the old ultra-violence. It was a huge risk that we really believed in at the time, but the title did not sell well, said Pritchard to Game Informer. Was it on the wrong platform? I don't know. Would it have done better on 360 or PS3? Possibly.
