Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Zelda identical on Wii and GameCube

[Multi] Only the controls are different for Twilight Princess' next-gen foray

Thursday 22 June 2006
The only difference between The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on GameCube and Wii will be in the control scheme, contradicting various rumours that the version on Wii will boast enhanced visuals and special extra features.

This info comes from the August issue of Nintendo Power, and - if true - is a fairly mixed blessing. When we played Zelda on Wii at this year's E3, the control felt clumsy and laboured, getting in the way of the fantasy action instead of streamlining the experience like with many other Wii games.

On the other hand, it's great that Nintendo is continuing to support GameCube and not short changing gamers who opt for the old-gen tech. In fact, most of the people we talked to at E3 had decided the GameCube version would be the one they'd go for.

With Wii offering such a vastly different way of playing, can it handle traditional gaming in a satisfying way? We'll be watching The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess very carefully to see if it slips up on Wii...
