From his first appearance in 1997, there’s always been that feeling that Klonoa would have better suited a Nintendo platform – after all, giant flapping ears and whimsical rainbow vistas sit uncomfortably alongside the Tekkens and Metal Gear Solids. As a simple bit of franchise/console matchmaking, Namco’s remake is to be applauded.

It's a light new video game release week, but most of the games won't break the bank. In fact, most of these games are all under $30 price point. Patapon 2 is available at retail stores for the PSP (includes downloadable code, not UMD) and from the PlayStation Network. Klonoa debuts on Wii, back from the PSone days. The new Nintendo DS Lite Green bundle with Personal Trainer: Cooking and a unique carrying case is available starting Sunday, May 3rd as well.

Klonoa deserves better. A creature of indeterminate species wearing a Pac-Man baseball cap and with ears with hands on the end, he starred in a couple of brilliant PlayStation games before being lost down the back of the mascot sofa. Well, he’s back. Or, rather, Namco Bandai has finally remembered what he’s good at, after a few average handheld titles and the head-slapping misfire that was Klonoa Beach Volleyball. ...
