If EBGames is to be believed, the prices for Guitar Hero III have been released, and they're all too expensive. The Wii version has the lowest high price, at only $90. The PS3 and 360 versions have the de facto $10 Next Gen tax applied to them, making them $100 each.

Activision has finally come out with the juicy info we've been waiting for on Guitar Hero III. The game, on its way to PS2, PS3, Wii and 360, will pack a host of new features including an expanded online multiplayer battle mode, new boss battles and loads of new unlockable content. Activision has just revealed the first details of the next version of Guitar Hero, which may or may not still be called Guitar Hero III.

The game will feature new play modes (including online multiplayer), wireless guitar controllers for all formats, downloadable content, more original recordings, and songs by the Rolling Stones, Muse, Heart and the Beastie Boys.

Activision's clout as publisher has got new Guitar Hero developers Neversoft better deals with record companies, and the game should feature many more actual artist recordings this time around. The following seven tracks will all appear in their original glory:

* Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
* Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
* Sabotage - Beastie Boys
* The Metal - Tenacious D
* My Name is Jonas - Weezer
* Knights of Cydonia - Muse
* Cult of Personality - Living Colour

Speaking to Pro-G today about all things Guitar Hero, Kai Huang, President and Co-Founder of RedOctane, has confirmed that the upcoming Guitar Hero 3 will feature online play.

Fans of the series had hoped that the recently released Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II would include online multiplayer support, but it wasn't to be. Guitar Hero 3 is scheduled for released on all major platforms in winter 2007.

"In an interview with IGN, RedOctane's co-founder and president Kai Huang has confirmed that the Wii version of Guitar Hero III uses a guitar peripheral and has online elements.

Guitar Hero III is scheduled to hit PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii in Autumn this year. However, many were left wondering whether
the Wii version would require a guitar peripheral - like previous Guitar Hero titles - or utilise the console's Wiimote.

While the development team is still exploring innovative ways to use the remote, Kai Huang told us: "We are really excited about the Wii game because there are so many options for the Wii remote. However, you will play the game with a guitar peripheral and it will be similar to a guitar you've seen in the past."

He also confirmed that Guitar Hero III on Wii contains features included in other versions of the upcoming game - such as online play and downloadable music.
