Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Guitar Hero: Metallica is real!

Spotted in Activision SEC filing by analyst

Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: On Tour... could Activision possibly milk its peripheral rock series any more this year? Well yes, because it looks like there'll be a fourth game out within the next 12 months too.

Following in the same vein as the Aerosmith spin off - which lets you play through the career of the Walk this Way rockers - Guitar Hero: Metallica has also been spotted, and will be out on "multiple consoles" before the end of Activision's fiscal year (that's before March 31, 2009).

The game was discovered in a company SEC filing by Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Edward Woo. According to the eagle-eyed man, the document said of upcoming releases: "In fiscal 2009, we plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms."

Obviously there's bugger all in terms of game details, but if Metallica is anything like Aerosmith then you'll be able to play through the band's career, and players will be able experience Metallica's entire career, nailing its rock classics as well as the odd track from "celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way."

Regardless of whether you think Metallica rocks more ass than Aerosmith - do you really want to keep paying for these spin-offs? Whatever happened to DLC?
