EA reveals cartoon boxing game

Fight Night fans are probably not going to be best pleased...

Electronic Arts' next big boxing game for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii sounds a bit more like Ready 2 Rumble than Fight Night. Is that a good thing?

FaceBreaker (good name, for a start) is set to feature bold, cartoon graphics and real-time facial deformation, which means that yes, you can literally smash your opponent's mug wide open and watch it all unfold before your eyes. In a cartoon fashion though.

Playable fighters include "a Latin lover known for his pelvic thrusts," a Russian demolitions expert, plus EA's fancy Game Face technology will allow you to create your own fighter, perhaps modeled on the person you hate most in the office.

"Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry," says EA Sports boss Peter Moore. "This game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product line-up."

It sounds brilliant fun and all (like Ready to Rumble), but does this mean the end of the excellent Fight Night series? Give us a sign, EA.
