World of Nintendo

From the well-made to the wtf - we bring you the odds and ends of Nintendo

Words: Martin Kitts, NGamer UK

16) 8-bit trance
This bloke seems interesting. He’s called noteNdo and he does a kind of music visualisation thing using modified NES consoles. While Mr. noteNdo pokes around in their jumper-plugged electrical guts, the painfully epic crashes he induces are beamed through a pair of projectors as random characters, bits of memory map, colourful static and flashing blocks of nothing. We’d take those back to the shop, mate.

17) Super plushy goodness
Brilliant! This is the kind of cuddly merchandise we like, and they make noises when you hit them. Ba-ding goes the question block, erasing all memory of irritating internet jokes about cake that we simply don’t understand.

18) Yoshi lunchbox
Probably the only lunchbox that comes with a car adapter, screen protector and a pair of headphones, this is the official way to carry a bag of chips, a Twix and a DS in one handy package. It also comes with styluses, stickers and things like that. It’s halfway between one of those DS starter set gift packs and something actually useful.

19) Problem solving with the Wii
This ad was placed in a newspaper. It’s about a man who smashes up the house while playing golf in the living room. Instead of grinding the pieces of broken lampshade into his stupid face, his wife orders him a Wii - unaware of its reputation as a destroyer of TV sets in the hands of the careless. Divorce!

20) Animal Crossing stylus collection
These are just great. See how serious KK Slider looks? He’s about to launch into a song so bassy it’ll loosen your bowels. You can get all six of these in capsules for $20, which is quite steep but still not as steep as buying a ticket to Tokyo and feeding money into vending machines. The same retailer also flogs some of the Club Nintendo freebies mentioned elsewhere.
