11) Wii robo-dog project
The Wii Remote has established itself as probably the most versatile game console controller ever. Here, it takes on the task of bringing wireless discipline to Sony’s Aibo, which used to cost a bundle of cash when it was new but was discontinued when everybody who could afford that much money for a toy puppy had already bought one. This particular Aibo found a home at the University of Calgary, and it’s loving the Wii Remote action.
12) Galaxy launch extravaganza in Oxford Street
It was the biggest Nintendo product launch since the Wii itself, and hundreds of costumed fans queued outside the Oxford Street branch of Game in anticipation of being among the first to get their hands on Galaxy. To entertain them while they waited, they could watch some bloke in the shop window playing something else entirely - New Super Mario Bros on DS. He’s using part of a DS devkit to display it on the big screen, so this must have been arranged by Nintendo. That’s true marketing genius.
13) Pikachu’s parade of thank you
Pikachu takes the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade by storm. New Yorkers were horrified to realize just how far the nation's poke-fever had progressed. What'll the little yellow bugger take over next? Christmas?
14) Terrifying Mario & Luigi costumes of horror
In the moment of sheer terror that followed the viewing of this photo, we temporarily forgot how to use a computer, as we pounded frantically at the keyboard in a futile attempt to erase it from existence. It’s emblazoned on the back of our eyelids and we’ve all but given up hope of ever having a calm night’s sleep again. If we print it here, the curse will move on to one of you lot, like in The Ring. Gotcha! You’ve got seven days to show it to someone else, otherwise these two are coming for you.
15) Raving Rabbids: The single
If you still can’t decide whether or not to buy Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, you’ve probably been holding on for the official single. If it rocks your face off, you’ll be heading straight down the shops, right? Anyway, the wait is over so let’s bring on the music! Yeah! Something about beats and bunnies, mmm, hey, hey… let’s go crazy, hysterical, making fun of everyday life… And that’s another 90 seconds of our lives we’ll never be getting back.
