GamesRadar Review

Unless you’re an astronaut or Richard Garriott, you won’t be flying to the Moon anytime soon due to the astronomical costs of space travel. Luckily, you can still see everything the Moon has to offer if you head to the Local solar system and land on Luna in Mass Effect.

Unlike most games, Mass Effect has the courage to portray Earth’s only natural satellite as it truly is. Once you rove aimlessly across the barren and bland landscape with no oxygen or high speed internet connections, you’ll quickly realize that the Moon is probably the most boring place in the galaxy.

Above: Real astronauts break past Earth’s gravitational pull, drink Tang, and eat freeze-dried ice cream. But anyone who wants to can drink Tang and eat freeze-dried ice cream for two-thirds of the experience

Moon Misconceptions:
- In A Grand Day Out with Wallace and Gromit (1989), the absented-minded inventor and his faithful companion travel to the Moon for fresh cheese to spread on their cracking toast. Although the state of Wisconsin is totally made out of cheese, the Moon is definitely not. Everyone knows that.

- Popular films featuring werewolves contribute to the popular misconception that individuals suffering from lycanthropy transform when exposed to a full moon. This is completely false as there are numerous recorded instances of full-blown werewolf-ism triggered by half-, and even quarter-moons.
