Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers

Video game music makes The Silence of the Lambs better

VIDEO: A moment of high drama given a tuneful boost

Words: David Houghton, GamesRadar UK

The Silence of the Lambs’ Buffalo Bill. Interesting chap. Repeatedly turned down for gender reassignment surgery as a result of being plainly mad in the face, he took the only alternative course of action available to a deeply disturbed, Q Lazzarus-loving poodle owner and started murdering women so that he could dress up in their skins. It’s an age-old story, and who amongst us can honestly say they haven’t been able to relate to it at some point in their lives?

Although shot to pieces before he could finish his skin suit, Bill did get one brief moment of self-indulgent happiness while preparing for his home-made transformation. The film played it for grotesque horror of course, but to Bill, we reckon it was a small, fleeting, personal triumph amidst a life of nigh-constant anguish. And we think we’ve sensitively evoked that with this week’s video.

Glad you guys like it. The mental image of this mash-up is actually what inspired this whole series, rather disturbingly. I try not to question where it entered my head from.

And Jacob, it's the Final Fantasy victory fanfare, specifically the version from FFVI on the SNES.

Great one. FFIV had truly epic music. You guys should try messing with Zelda boss battle themes or something.

Woops FFVI*. Well now that I wasted another piece of space, I could also suggest some Banjo Kazooie/Tooie tunes. Very good stuff.

You've probably got a bunch of suggestions on what music to use next, but something with the Team Fortress 2 theme would have to be amazing..

And that was really.. creepy.

rofl, i never know what movies going to be next. I see a trend with classic 70's 80s movies. My guess for the next one would be The Running Man with Arnold.
