Top 7... Worst celebrity voiceovers

Witness the most horrific performances from famous folk in the history of gaming

Words: Tyler Nagata, GamesRadar US

The Game: Area 51 (Xbox, PS, PS2, PC)
The Star: David Ducovny as Ethan Cole

David Duchovny ’s lackadaisical sleep deprived voice seems better suited for a bedtime story than a special operations military marine in Area 51. Sure, the game’s convoluted plot does indeed feature aliens, making Duchovny an understandable choice considering his famed role as the extraterrestrial curious FBI agent, Fox Mulder.

But Duchovny’s drawn out Demorol flavored delivery drags down the action in this shooter to a snail’s pace. Every time the game’s action picks up, in comes Duchovny to calm things back down. Musing on quotes from existential philosophers may work for agent Fox Mulder. But when Duchovny starts getting all thoughtful on us as special forces grunt, Ethan Cole, we feel like someone should be tucking us in for the night. If you’re in a comfortable chair or near a cozy bed, scroll down at your own risk to see a sample of Ducovny’s drowsy voice in full force. If you’re not careful you may just wake up with keyboard imprints pressed into your cheek hours later.
