Zombie themed shooters seem to be hot this year, but Left 4 Dead’s “zombies” aren’t slow-moving targets with detachable limbs, they’re speedy rabies-infected death machines controlled by a very neat mash up of cinematic influences and multiplayer, and they look like a lot of fun to kill. Unfortunately for this game, having neat zombies and looking really fun doesn’t change the fact that its name is horrid.
Whenever a word is replaced with a number we immediately think of 12-year-old texters running up their parent’s cell phone bills. In this case, the number four also represents the size of your zombie defense party, which is either controlled by the computer or by other players in co-op mode. This somehow makes it worse.
