Sandshrew is yet another fire-and-forget Pokemon that you probably won't use for long. Nothing against the little guy, but even his next form, Sandslash, is part of a rather large group of two-stage Pokes that want to be your early-game buddies. There aren't really a whole lot of useful moves in this list that aren't available elsewhere. Props for mixing Normal, Ground, Poison, Rock and Bug types so early, though.
