Pokemusings, week 42

Our Favorite Pokemon Spin-Offs

Words: Raymond Padilla, GamesRadar US

Game: Pokemon Box: Ruby and Sapphire
Platform: GameCube
The Skinny: At last! Storage!

More of a utility than a game, Pokemon Box allowed gamers to transfer Pokemon on their GBA cartridges and store them on a GCN memory card. For serious trainers, this was an absolute godsend. Up to 1,500 Pokemon could fit on a memory card, which made this title a must-have accessory.

Above: Pokemon Box has an awesome utility for serious trainers

As an added bonus, the game offered unique Pokemon that could be downloaded to the GBA. Players could get a False Swipe Swablu, Extremespeed Zigzagoon, Pay Day Skitty, and Surfing Pichu. Japanese players could head to a Pokemon Center for a Wishing Ralts!

Ah, these Pokemon spin-offs bring back some excellent memories. It makes us feel so good that we're going to give away some Pokemon! (Actually, we were going to do that anyway, even if we were feeling bad.) Since we talked about some Pokemon blasts from the past, we're going to give away the original starter Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. For a chance to win these Pokemon, head on over to our Pokemon general discussion forums and look for a thread called "Pokemusings #42: Win the Kanto Starters!!!" Good luck to everyone!
