Link's Crossbow Training saves Wii

Sequel finally delivers accurate Wii Remote control

Words: Mike Jackson, CVG UK

In Ghost Squad, you shoot the bottom left and top-right corners of the screen. Link’s Crossbow Training isn’t quite as intuitive - you move two sensitivity sliders around to achieve the accuracy needed. But in either case, after this simple setup, you play the game just like you're holding a gun (or a crossbow) and the pointing accuracy is spot-on.

Imagine the difference a default calibration menu for the Wii would make when playing Metroid Prime 3; Samus' arm would be a direct extension of your own.

It would also solve the big issue of sensitivity for players with setups that either have them sitting very close to the TV (where the pointer swings around with the tiniest motion) and for those sitting far away (where you feel the need to fling the Wii Remote to get a response).

Maybe, just maybe, we’ll see a firmware update that will make calibration available for all games. And although it's not necessary in games like Mario Galaxy, better accuracy is certainly preferred.
