Can you remember when Genesis games were on shop shelves? How about ZX Spectrum? If you were there in line to play Space Invaders in 1978, then kudos to you. But imagine a time before all that. A time (whisper it) before videogames even existed. What did people do? Turns out it wasn’t actually so different.

We’ve trawled the history books and found the earliest examples we could of all the major gaming staples. From a fully functional 1936 light gun game to a steering-wheel controlled racing game, it’s all here.
