10 gaming world records that need to exist

Set a new Guinness world record and soak up the glory

Words: Tyler Wilde, GamesRadar US

The concept of "speed" in a game is rather abstract... if you're a total loser who's in to abstract thinking and junk. F-Zero GX is totally the fastest racing game ever, allowing you to clock speeds of over 2000 km/h, which means that Gran Turismo can suck it until it starts strapping Russian-made rockets onto those soccer mom rides it tries to pass off as racing cars. Give us a break, Turismo, there's no world record for having the most cars in one game. What? There is? 721 cars? Wow, that's a lot, good thing we can get a nice look at all of them while they putt by like rusty tug boats.

Above: After playing F-Zero GX, we saw a supersonic jet being piloted by an Olympic sprinter, and it looked slow

Cody Miller holds the record for the fastest completion of Halo 2 on Legendary (3 hr, 17 min, 50 sec), but he never spent 60 hours designing a giant, masochistic Rube Goldberg machine in Halo 3's Forge, which is way cooler than actually beating any of the Halo games.

Our current belief is that "evilmidget" holds the record, if not for the video below, for another creation (the guy's a maniac with this stuff).

Guinness Trivia: Xbox Live member | Scar | had his account banned until December 31st, 9999 after he managed to download a pre-release version of Halo 3. While he won't be playing any Halo 3 multiplayer on that account, he can at least wait for Half-Life 3, which is set to be released on January 1st, 10,000.

This is more of a challenge than a record we actually care about breaking. We're hoping for a virtual mile high, preferably with a big "GR" tattooed on the top. Don't ask why, that would ruin the fun.

Guinness Trivia: Second Life is home to the first ever virtual embassy. Indeed, Sweden opened an in-game embassy on May 30th, 2007. Sadly, the embassy soon fell apart due to use of shoddy IKEA polygons.
