Today Codemasters announced it will be bringing Emergency Mayhem, a new action racing title that merges arcade gameplay with mini-game goodness, exclusively to Nintendo Wii. Gamers will have to wait until the second quarter of 2008, but be prepared to chuck bananas at monkeys while simultaneously defusing bombs and driving a police car. That is, of course, unless IGN misread the press release they sent¿ Emergency Mayhem is out to combine chaotic driving sequences with arcade mini-games, as players will take to the streets in police cars, fire trucks, and paramedic vans to conquer over 30 missions in what appears to be a Crazy Taxi meets Wario Ware design. Players begin by chasing to the scene of the emergency as quickly as possible, only to have the action switch up to action mini-games, each using the Wii remote in crazy and unique ways. Think you can disarm a bomb? So what, punk. Who can't? Launching bananas out of a cannon at irate monkeys, however, is a whole new ballgame. They don't teach that in school.

Emergency Mayhem, a game abandoned by Acclaim, has been taken up for development by Codemasters. Many Acclaim titles over the course of the last few years since its untimely 2004 demise have been transformed into successful games. THQ picked up Juiced from Acclaim and has released that game. XS Games released last month The Red Star, and Aspyr has taken up a game called Made Man. In the wake of all this resurrecting of Acclaim titles from the grave is Emergency Mayhem - confirmed to be developed by Warner Bros. Interactive developers, Codemasters. Emergency Mayhem was originally announced for the Playstation 2 and Xbox, but will be adapted for Wii by Codemasters. Details are few about what exactly will go on with Emergency Mayhem on the Wii.

Whizzing onto Wii in the summer, Emergency Mayhem is a revamped action game originally revealed by ill-fated developer Acclaim Cheltenham - and we've dialed up the first screens for this ker-razy save-'em-all title, now under the control of Supersonic, who you might remember as the creator of the rather excellent Mashed.
Emergency Mayhem's city-sprints, as you take charge of the fire, police and ambulance emergency services in a desperate dash to save anyone in need,
