Producers and development teams at Final Fantasy XIII publisher/developer Square Enix "don't have a particular favourite platform", the director on upcoming RPG The Last Remnant has revealed.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com during a trip to Tokyo to check out the title, director Hiroshi Takai, whose credits include Legend of Mana, the Romancing SaGa trilogy and PS2 launch title The Bouncer, reinforced the company's commitment to multi-platform development with its high-profile role-playing games, but said that the 360 is an "easy" platform to develop on, and revealed that The Last Remnant team had "quite a lot of fun" with it.

Wii - Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors - Crisis Core, Dragon Quest Swords confirmed for Australia

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII--the much awaited PSP game that was released in the US in March this year--has finally been confirmed for release in Australia. Ubisoft has announced it will distribute the role-playing game down under for developer Square Enix, although no fixed date has been set for release.

In addition to Crisis Core, Ubisoft has also won the Australian distribution duties for some other key Square Enix titles. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Nintendo Wii is slated for an autumn 2008 release, while Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift for the DS is due in winter this year. Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme for the DS and the PSP have also been dated for winter 2008.

Square Enix has today announced details of its schedule for the fresh end of 2008, with Final Fantasy I and II on the PSP and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings on the DS both being given firm street dates.

Details of the release dates for other UK-bound Square Enix titles are somewhat more vague, with DS titles Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates and The World Ends With You due as the leaves begin to sprout, while we can expect Odin Sphere on PS2 and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker on DS sometime before said leaves turn brown.

Square-Enix has announced the release date of the first Dragon Quest game for the Wii and detailed the story: "Five years have passed since the defeat of the Deathbringer, and the kingdom of Avalonia joyously celebrates what seems to be an everlasting era of peace. However, a closer look reveals that things are amiss. Calamity arises within the kingdom, as unfamiliar and powerful monsters invade the outskirts of town. With the Deathbringer gone, what explanation is there for the onset of these monsters? And what of the queen, who has come to hide her face behind a strange mask? Make your way through the perilous journey, solve the baffling mysteries and return order to Avalonia."
