Earlier on this month, 2K Sports delayed (without explanation thus far) Don King Presents: Prizefighter for the Nintendo Wii. Originally planned for release next month, the Balance Board-supported title has now been pushed back until March 2009. Such a long delay led many to believe that the Nintendo Wii build was destined for the trash can (particularly as the Xbox 360 version wasn't received brilliantly), but a 2K Sports message board admin has now confirmed that it is still in the works, albeit with a different publisher or developer (it isn't too clear which) at the helm.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter was released on the Microsoft Xbox 360 (to, it has to be said, mixed reviews) back in June of this year. Still, with Balance Board training tasks in the Nintendo Wii version, we were looking forward to its Autumn 2008 release... ...but now it appears that the title's launch on the Wii has been pushed back quite considerably, all the way until, according to the game's official website, March 2009.

An updated image of the box art for Don King Presents: Prizefighter has surfaced on EBGames' website today. Nothing special about that on its own, but a closer look reveals a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo, suggesting that the boxing simulation will support online play. The question is whether this includes the Wii Balance Board use, which Balance Board Blog reports, the game already supports.

Ripten writes: Among the deluge of press releases we receive daily, it's nice to see a little bit of effort exerted for once. This letter from Don King, declaring that language can't describe the sheer magnitude of magnificence of his new game, seems to be representative of the hype we can expect to see more of for Prizefighter, which King considers the best anything ever.

Videogamer writes: Welcome to the Rumour mill, VideoGamer.com's run-down of the big rumours currently doing the rounds in the video game industry. Every week we'll hunt down the juiciest stories and give our opinion on how legit they are. So, whether you want the ridiculous or the plausible, read on. Beyond Good & Evil 2 in development The Rumour: Final Fantasy designer Yoshitaka Amano has joined Ubisoft and will be working on Beyond Good & Evil 2. Verdict: It's a title fans have been crying out for and we'd certainly love to see a sequel, but Ubisoft hasn't so much as hinted that a sequel to its 2003 action adventure title is coming. Despite almost unanimous critical praise the game wasn't a commercial success and with so many blockbuster franchises in the Ubisoft locker it would be a risk to choose this over a new game in a franchise with a stronger fan base. Plausibility rating: 2/5

Don King Presents: Prizefighter will be hitting the Xbox 360 this spring, but in September the game will be released on the Wii and DS. It's the Wii version that sounds most exciting, with developer Venom Games including support for the soon to be released Wii Fit Balance Board. We're also including Wii Fit and the Balance Board, and we're very excited about this, said Matthew Seymour, Executive Producer, 2K Europe. Myself and the developers love the Balance Board, and we'll be utilising that not to fight, because that would be a little weird, but for the training games. So doing the jump rope training game, and push ups and all of that kind of stuff, will all be nicely woven using the Balance Board.
