Donkey Konga - drums and monkeys, together at last; their powers combined in a game that was perfect in design and execution, packed with a satisfying pair of drums to bash your tunes out on. When Nintendo monkeyed (ha!) with the formula for DK Jungle Beat, even the most optimistic gamers choked at the idea of playing a platform game with a pair of bongos, but Nintendo proved the doubters wrong and weve never been so happy to have been mistaken. Jungle Beat remains one of the ...
Amusingly, even Nintendo isn't quite sure what this is called anymore. We don't blame them: you'll probably remember that it was Donkey Kong Bongo Blast a couple of years back - but that was when it was destined for GameCube, and controlled with the plug-in bongos that originally came packaged with Donkey Konga. And it also borrows bits from GameCube's cancelled Donkey Kong Racing, too. We'd like to suggest they name it "Donkey Kong's Formerly Bongo-Controlled But Keeping The Spirit Of The ...
After last week's touting of the 44 Wii games Nintendo has in development, the company has since detailed the titles it will be rolling out in Japan this year - and it's a mighty impressive list indeed.

According to the list - which was swiped from financial documents by IGN - Nintendo will release its three big hitters: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros. Brawl in Japan this year - and considering their importance, probably the rest of the world as ...
Friday 27 April 2007
Gamecube's cancelled Donkey Kong racing game DK Bongo Blast has finally resurfaced on Wii - and we've got the first shots to prove it. The game is a Mario Kart-style racer, only more like Sonic Riders, thanks to Donkey Kong's jet-powered bongos and massive jumps.

The screens show some nice blurring effects on close-up objects and the usual locales are all present and correct. There's a jungle, a lava level, an ice stage, a tropical island... but it all looks nice and ...

The latest issue of Japanese publication Famitsu magazine disclosed new details regarding Donkey Kong Bongo Blast. The game, which Nintendo initially intended to release on GameCube with support of the bongos controller peripheral, will now release on Wii later this year.

According to Famitsu, Bongo Blast will have players racing through seven worlds and sixteen courses using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control their character. Players will shake the controllers to accelerate, and turn by placing more emphasis on one controller over the other. Jumps are accomplished by raising both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. In addition to the single-player mode, Bongo Blast will also include a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four players.
DK Bongo Blast, originally intended to be a Bongo Controller-compatible game for GameCube, will launch later this year on Wii instead. According to The Wire, the latest issue of Japanese games magazine, Famitsu, has revealed that players will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control DK as he rockets through sixteen courses within seven differing worlds.

Shaking the controllers makes DK accelerate on his rocket-powered barrels, and, strange as it may sound, steering is done by shaking one ...
