DK Barrel Blast

Donkey Kong racer confirmed for Europe

First Wii shots inside!

Friday 27 April 2007
Gamecube's cancelled Donkey Kong racing game DK Bongo Blast has finally resurfaced on Wii - and we've got the first shots to prove it. The game is a Mario Kart-style racer, only more like Sonic Riders, thanks to Donkey Kong's jet-powered bongos and massive jumps.

The screens show some nice blurring effects on close-up objects and the usual locales are all present and correct. There's a jungle, a lava level, an ice stage, a tropical island... but it all looks nice and friendly and we'd bet our last banana on the wii-mote fitting the gliding action perfectly. Probably better than the Gamecube bongo controllers ever would, if we're honest.

There's also a glimpse of the four-player split screen mode, which looks great and should prove to be a multiplayer favourite once your mates are all knackered from Wii Sports and want to sit down.

We'll have loads more on the game, which is as yet unnamed on Wii, just as soon as we get more information. Until then, hit the images tab and check out the screens.
