From Gaming Target The thing about cooking in large quantities is that the food often turns out to be bland and inedible. That's not so in the case of Cooking Mama, which Majesco announced has surpassed four million copies sold based on the gaming recipe of developer Cooking Mama Limited.

Kotaku writes: We've been following the PETA Cooking Mama back and forth with bated breath. First PETA created a gruesome, but sort cool take on Cooking Mama, using the doe-eyed chef to highlight some issues the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have with Thanksgiving. Then Majesco responded, pointing out that their games have plenty of vegetarian recipes, and even taking the issue to Cooking Mama herself for some overly cute quotes about animal lovin'. Now PETA, quick to recognize a publicity train when they see when, have responded in an open letter, telling Majesco just how much they love their Cooking Mama games and asking for a vegetarian-only Cooking Mama game in the future. They're even offering to help promote it, if the vege game comes to fruition.

IGN writes: Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced that the award-winning Cooking Mama franchise has reached sales of 1.6 million units in the United States.

What makes a good video game? Strong visuals are important. Good controls are essential. A well-crafted concept helps too. These days, most games can boast at least two-thirds of that criteria. So, then what makes a game great? Feeling. Emotion. Surprise. Interaction. Even addiction. It's a magical feeling when a game offers all these elements. Here are the titles L.A. Times deemed the best experiences of 2007. Admittedly, they didn't play everything (because that would probably be impossible), but of the titles that did cross their paths, these are the ones that resonated most. Cooking Mama both on the Wii and DS were pleasant enough games and they have sold pretty well (considering it was full price here too). With that 505 Games have announced an agreement with Cooking Mama Ltd., a subsidiary of Japanese developer Office Create, to publish Cooking Mama 2 across Europe. This comes as no surprise as that is where Cooking Mama sold has best. No game features have been announced yet but expect more touch games and motion based cookery.

It was announced today that Cooking Mama for the Nintendo Wii will be served up across Europe on May 11th...

As gamers in this modern era of peripherals and motion-sensitive controls, we thoroughly enjoy playing games that simulate real-life endeavors. And while we realize that playing Guitar Hero won't make us guitarists, and playing Phoenix Wright won't make us lawyers, could playing Cooking Mama: Cook Off make us chefs? Mama hopes so, and our new trailer shows just how she plans to do it. Cracking eggs, whisking batter, and kneading dough are some of the more quotidian tasks Mama will lay before
