Ahead of tomorrow's NPD sales figures for the month of November, analyst Cowen Research is expecting Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War to have been the big sellers for the month.

Both titles are expected to have sold two million units during the period in the US, while Sony's Resistance 2 and THQ's WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2009 will have sold around 500,000 copies each, according to the firm.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is also expected to have reached almost two million sales in the region, while Activision's Guitar Hero: World Tour will have sold at least one million units, said Cowen.

Overall, Cowen anticipates that software sales will have grown nine per cent during November, compared to the same period last year, including a 5 per cent growth in handheld games and a massive 76 per cent growth in PC titles, due primarily to the Warcraft expansion.

Treyarch has revealed details about the Call of Duty: World at War Limited Collector's Edition, due to ship alongside the game when it launches on November 14th.

The Limited Collector's Edition comes packaged in a metal storage tin big enough to store multiple games in. So if you were ever looking for a solution to transporting all of your Call of Duty's together, here it is.

The only other physical item included with the limited edition is a branded steel canteen. The other bonuses are all digital items to use in game, including the powerful FG 42 Machine Gun being unlocked from day one, a VIP status tag for use in the online multiplayer modes, and an exclusive double experience week.

So far we've only seen shots of the Xbox 360 and PC Limited Collector's Editions, so it's unclear as to whether it'll be available on other platforms.

It looks like there is a double dose of news coming from the folks behind Call of Duty: World at War. Today Activision announced the release date and another special surprise via press release:

"Boot camp will soon take on a new meaning, as Activision Publishing, Inc. and developer Treyarch, have confirmed plans for Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer betas in October for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and separately for download on Windows PC. These betas will serve as an early chance for players to practice the tactics needed for survival in the intense chaos of Call of Duty: World at War's Pacific and European theaters. Players will experience the game's new squad system, as well as fan favorite perks and kill streaks.

All preparation for the full battle will commence on November 11, 2008 when Call of Duty: World at War is released to retailers nationwide.

"We are excited to share a sneak peak of Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer with the community," says Mark Lamia, Treyarch Studio Head. The first part of that title is purely subjective, but according to the article in the upcoming issue of GamePro that reader Mobius0077 posted in TVGB's Community Discussions area it is entirely true. That's right, the subheader of the article claims that from the time they spent with Call of Duty: World at War it is actually better than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. After reading the article and pretending it wasn't a total fluff piece TVGB can see where they're coming from.

Destructoid writes: "In a sudden turn of events that have shocked the games industry, Treyarch has confirmed that Call of Duty: World at War for the Wii will not have an online cooperative mode. Recently, WiiHD had a chance to speak with a Treyarch representative about the matter. The reason for the exclusion of the larger mode is massively surprising. Apparently, the Wii cannot sustain the World at War engine with that many people on-screen at the same time. This is what Treyarch had to officially say:

'We are proud to bring what we believe will be the best-looking Wii game this fall to the community, but that comes with technical trade-offs. Then consider all the AI code, level scripting, and endless other content in a SP / co-op environment that is just too much for the Wii to sustain with our engine.'
