Tee hee.
And then there’s Silent Assassin’s most nerve-wracking, ‘80s thriller moment of them all - the killing of an ex-KGB officer in full military regalia. It’s tough enough just getting through the St. Petersburg streets to the building opposite, but when you finally get your scope to the window, there’s a problem: he’s meeting three other generals and you don’t know which one he is. You can’t kill the others. And the meeting started early.
Your Agency contact, Diana, checks her file and starts dropping facts that help you narrow it down. He’s 60, he’s right handed, he’s a heavy drinker, he’s bald… not only must you identify the target from these descriptions, but you must do it quickly AND get a clean shot before the meeting ends. Firing a single perfect bullet, dropping the rifle and walking calmly away, having figured all that out, is a major thrill.
The Hitman tech does ragdoll death well enough to make dumb blasting fun, but this is something else. This is an icily vicious professionalism that requires a steady nerve and unusual restraint. And this is why Silent Assassin will always remain a beautiful, brilliant game.
