It's Thanksgiving in LA and four families - one African-American, one Vietnamese, one Jewish and one Latin-American - settle down at their dinner tables. But in this quartet of households, relationships among adults and between the various generations are strained, resulting in a flurry of dramatic revelations...

Lovingly shot by cinematographer Jong Lin, the follow-up to writer-director Gurinder Chadha's Bhaji On The Beach is a comic exploration of the melting pot that is the City of Angels. Shoehorning 30 characters and multiple sub-plots into its hour-and-a-half running time, What's Cooking? falls back on stereotypes for some of its laughs, but strong performances help paper over the schematic flaws.
