Your reason for removing Lucas makes 0 sense, you are saying... - He was only put in because of mother 3 fans so they just slipped him in -which was false (He was originally intended to be in melee but mother 3 was cancelled at that time so they put him in brawl when mother 3 was release on GBA, I think the term slipping a character in would mean he'd be Unlockable, never shown on the dojo, and never seen in the SSE) - No one knows who he now - is false (I think people knew Lucas the same amount when he was in brawl and if they really didn't know we have trophies for that purpose) - Nintendo is not interested in Lucas - which is completely false (If Nintendo wasn't interested in Lucas, Lucas would never have been intended to be in melee, Lucas would never have been in Brawl, Lucas would never have been prominent in the SSE and potentially Lucas wouldn't had been made) So you are making nintendo's mind up Your reason for removing Pokémon trainer makes 0 sense, you are saying... - He is gen 1, looks like red but he is really old - does it really matter (He was never that brand new when he was in brawl and more iconic than any other Pokémon trainer) - They are going onto the 6th generation this year and wanting to show off those characters - I don't think that is the exact case (why would they suddenly add the 6 gen trainer without including the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th pokemon trainer in a smash bros game, what I mean there is if they are going off of the recent pokemon trainer and continuously update that throught the smash series they would've done it by now because when brawl came out the most recent pokemon generation was gen 4 and we did not see the 4th gen trainer) - The anime move so far beyond that it isn't a reference to that anymore - The anime move so far beyond WHAT? that it isn't a reference to that anymore (I do not think it was an anime reference because if that were the case he would be based on Ash not Red and have a pikachu with him and also we have pokemon origins coming out) Charizard is a bit to popular to cut

Lucario is a nice selection for the super smash bros series, along with pokemon trainer. Pokemon Trainer made the battle experience unique and Lucario's moves were spectacular. If you wanna replace a pokemon replace jigglypuff. Also Lucas was a very interesting choice Iwould take him over Villager anytime. Snake has no chance of making it what so ever, he's a great guy but he's not suit for this series. It would be very unique to see Pokemon Trainer to have the first 3 generation starter pokemon and you get to chose the eveloution order u want. Sonic has a strong chance of making it, I reccomend shadow being in there. And the Kirby series, Meta Knight was a great choice u should remove king dede and add swords knight and blades night. Thank you.

What!!! I freakin loved ROB, not even joking. I didn't realize he was so widely seen as under powered. He was probably my favorite. Anyways, keep up the good work. I love the style and presentation of these. As for future topics... how about a discussion on the superfluous stuff. I think they've already said subspace is out? What's the replacement going to be? Is there going to be a level editor and if so, will it be less restrictive? Also what levels will be brought back as retro?
  • tehtimeisnow - July 19, 2013 6:10 p.m.

  • jewlian-coca - September 13, 2013 12:24 p.m.

Yeah I'm sure Nintendo will add in modern fagfest to smash bros.
  • masterjoe123 - July 19, 2013 5:59 p.m.

I think Marth will stay, but will have Awakening's "Marth" as an alternate costume.
  • Smash_Bro - July 18, 2013 10:31 p.m.

I agree with the list EXCEPT for Marth. I see him staying, and Sonic's gone. Sakurai has said on many occasions that 3rd party characters happen on very special occasions. I don't think one exclusive game is enough to secure a spot for a second round of Smash Bros. Mega Man is guest #1, and I see a Namco-Bandai guest next (assuming there even IS another non-Ninty Smasher). As for Marth, the newest FE game pretty much brought him back into the limelight. I'd be surprised if he were cut after being such a main portion of to speak.
  • Divine Paladin - July 19, 2013 4:56 a.m.

Well, Sonic's got three exclusive games coming out this year, as part of the deal with Nintendo. Now one of them is rumored to be Mario and Sonic at the [insert current Olympic game they're doing now], but regardless there's still another unknown one coming out this year. If you look at the partnership Sega and Nintendo have had in recent years (Secret Rings, Black Knight, Colors, Rush 1/2, etc.), it's not hard at all to see Sonic coming back. Besides, Capcom couldn't argue that, since they did a crossover Sonic/Megaman comic. Adding Sonic in just seals SSB4 as the "classic" fighting game with Mario, Sonic, Megaman, and Pac-man (we all know he's probably in given the exclusive game he's getting soon). Snake, however, is doubtful.
  • Smash_Bro - July 19, 2013 8:51 a.m.

I'm not sure how I feel about all that... Smash Bros is supposed to be a Nintendo fighter, not "that super crossover game everyone's been waiting for." Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man... It just wouldn't feel like Smash anymore. If Pac-Man DOES make it in, I hope it's the classic version as an assist trophy. More people would be upset than happy if anthro-Pac were a fighter, I'd say.
  • Divine Paladin - July 19, 2013 10:30 a.m.

I personally am okay with having three third party characters if those are the three. Two are hugely relevant to Nintendo's history (one being the rival of and now big console-selling game for Nintendo, the other being a NES classic), and the third is owned by the developer of the game and is more than fair when you think of how quickly they're making this next game possible. There could be MANY worse choices for third party characters; if you want proof, look at PSAS (a great game in its own right, but that's a different subject), which had two characters from games that didn't even come out until after launch and one who many don't even slightly associate with the PlayStation brand. I could see your apprehension with it, but it's really not a huge deal IMO if SSB4 has four of gaming's biggest mascots together, especially when only one has little to actually do with Nintendo. It's better than adding another Kid Icarus and Kirby character, if you ask me.

Kind of thought Henry would be taller and that Coop was shorter, but anyway. Thanks for the informative vid and lets hope they replace that low hanging fruit with some awesome new ones. Here is hoping for Tom Nook and Red so that I can get revenge for all those time all those times they ripped me off.
  • shawksta - July 18, 2013 8:40 p.m.

Red? how did he rip you off? XD
  • KA87 - July 19, 2013 3:51 p.m.

    Fake paintings.
  • shawksta - July 19, 2013 4:10 p.m.

    Oh yeah THAT Red
  • PlainLikeVanilla - July 18, 2013 6:38 p.m.

Would be cool to see you guys do a 4player radarplays of smash.
  • shawksta - July 18, 2013 5:15 p.m.

Also we have to consider that certain characters who were clones or just randomly could possibly get overall changes like Bowser did.
  • robotic-fiend - July 18, 2013 4:51 p.m.

Lucario is still one of the most popular pokemon and has a unique moveset so I wouldn't be too quick to cut him. ROB wont be removed, that's the same as everyone wanting a Game and Watch removed from Brawl, he is too unique to cut. Like the others have commented on, I think the prime candidates to be cut are the clones, Wolf or Falco, Toon LInk, and Lucas are the most likely cuts. I don't see any reason for them to cut totally unique characters like ROB just because people don't like or use him, a lot of people had Olimar on the cut list before he was revealed a week ago for the same reasons: that nobody likes or uses him. The only Non clone that will probably be cut is Ike, even though it's a shame since he plays completely differently than Marth, he isn't relevant anymore so he will probably be replaced by Chrom, though my hope for a Awakening rep. is the Avatar or Tharja for some interesting magic gameplay. Marth is the Mario of Fire Emblem so cutting him is just ludicrous, also, Hikaru Midorikawa.
  • Clovin64 - July 18, 2013 4:43 p.m.

On the subject of new Fire Emblem Awakening characters, I'd like to see Panne, so I can transform into a giant bunny creature and kick Princess Peach in the face with my powerful hind legs. BAM!
  • J-Fid - July 18, 2013 3:33 p.m.

Snake, Toon Link, and maybe this version of the PKMN Trainer are all, in my opinion, not returning. Snake for being a guest character in Brawl. TL will be replaced for a new short Link (probably the one from the new 3DS game). I also think there will be new PKMN for the Trainer, who might also be different. Sonic, Wolf, Lucario, and Ike are what I call questionable. Outside of Wolf, all are original fighters, and Wolf non-special moves are all unique. Sonic falls under the same boat as Snake. I doubt (though it's certainly possible) that we'll get to play as both Ness and Lucas. The only reason they were both in the last game, was because Lucas was supposed to be in Melee, but was replaced with Ness (who was already made for the game as a placeholder for Lucas) due to Mother 3 being delayed in Japan. By the time Brawl was being made, fans were much more embracing of Ness than they were before, so both made it. If I had to pick one to stay, I'd easily choose Ness. At this point, he's known more for being in Smash Bros. than in Earthbound.
  • shawksta - July 18, 2013 2:47 p.m.

Sakurai said it would depend on movesets and potential movesets and having to sacrifice certain characters but he's still cluttered on what to do, poor guy. I dont understand why people want ROB gone, Clones deserves to be gone or replaced more than ROB, just because he's obscure doesnt mean he should be removed, i havent seen anything with good logic on why ROB should be gone. All the clones need to either be fixed or outright replaced. Great show regardless
