Watch: full Super Bowl trailer for Terminator: Genisys

Eight weeks after Paramount dropped the franchise-redefining first teaser for Terminator: Genisys it’s now released the film’s Super Bowl trailer two days early along with a new poster.

The 30-second tease is all about the edit. Compared to the trailer we’ve already seen, it’s a tighter, cheekier preview. Eschewing the series’ legendary score (DUN-dun-dun-dun-dun) for a frantic new accompaniment, it’s a perfect fit for the teaser’s target audience.

As new footage goes it’s sparse, but this isn’t an exact replica of the December teaser. The first 15 seconds include new looks at a never-before-seen liquid metal Terminator casually trotting away from an explosion, Arnie’s T-800 on the Golden Gate Bridge and Emilia Clarke’s rebooted Sarah Connor.

Boasting an inventive storyline, a young, hip cast and the return of franchise star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Genisys looks poised to kickstart a new trilogy of flicks. The future of the killer ‘bots and their seemingly never-ending mission to destroy John Connor will of course hinge on how well this next instalment fares.

Terminator: Genisys opens on July 1st in the US and July 3rd in the UK.
