Balancing the Tau's hand-to-hand weaknesses are their allies, the Kroot. This race of beasts looks like an angry combination of hyena and insect - and swarm their quarry with a mix of squad-based infantry units, mounted gunners, and giant structure-stomping beasts. Best of all, the Kroot are carnivores that regain health from the corpses of fallen foes, making them resilient fighters. It's easy to see why the Tau are the most popular faction for new players to the Warhammer 40K tabletop game: the core army plus their Kroot auxiliaries make them a two-for-one special.
